Beautiful... just fucking beautiful. One day, I will have my fun in regions such as these. until then, I will continue to bring pounds and pounds and pounds of morels home every spring until my vacation of a lifetime. That's really as good as it gets around here... I am so envious.

That is a moss covered slope right next to a river. For the first time in my life I wished I had a wide angle lens.

Holy Kazam! (whatever that means) How did you safely traverse the border on the return trip... oh yeah, and why exactly did you return anyway?
I tried to nominate one of these pics but couldn't figure out how to post it in thumbnail format (or at all for that matter). There are SEVERAL worthy of nomination however I'm partial to #22. Great work!!!!

> do you guys indulge during your camp?
No.
It was a hard core trip with lots of driving on crazy roads, camping in random places, constantly searching for mushrooms and figuring how how the ecosystem worked the entire time, finding new patches even on the last day, I barely even found the time to call home.
> that moss growing bunch is truly amazing
That is nothing, wait until next year.
> Holy Kazam! (whatever that means)
Every single day down there was hands down the best mushroom hunt of my life. There are no words for it, a few of the pictures can almost start to convey the meaning.
> How did you safely traverse the border on the return trip...
The border was no hassle because I flew back. Customs in LA involved less than 30 seconds of friendly interrogation and I could tell they had absolutely no desire to sift through 80 pounds of dirty camping gear.
> oh yeah, and why exactly did you return anyway?
I have no idea, none at all.
> I tried to nominate one of these pics but couldn't figure out how to post it in thumbnail format (or at all for that matter).
There are three ways:
1) You can right click on an image, save it to your local HD, re-upload it to the shroomery and post it. 2) (easiest) Right click on the image, choose copy image source, then put that URL between IMG tags in other posts. 3) Go to http://mushroomobserver.org/4445 where you have a choice of thumbnail size, medium size (which I posted) or very very large size (3600x2700). You then right click on the image in your desired size and include the url to it within IMG tags.
> There are SEVERAL worthy of nomination however I'm partial to #22. Great work!!!!
Please do nominate them, Cactu and I would really appreciate that.

This is the first cluster of P. zapotecorum I saw:

This photo is dedicated to GeorgeM, who could have made it turn out much better than this:

yes none are orchids i guess Alan was referring the first as the orchid lily is very common around here and in that forest in some places is also call aretillo i Will get scientific name later and the last one is in probocidea genus i guess.
you know Alan when i look at this pictures in the second one is easy to see the gill and how the attachment is subdecurrent and the gill form some sort of a circle inside the gill that sometimes is more pronounced, also this one may be zapotecorum, is very interesting to see how in the drying process the cap contract and form a bell shape , in this species is very characteristic, the scales in this ones are not so profuse as others , the nipple with depressed center is very alike some hoosgenii grow as the ones of elektrolurch or something like that, normally there are some with depressed center ,but no nipple or depressed with nipple OR not depressed but acute nipple , umbonate, well you see all the variations, but is good to point out all those features so in future we can even distinguish between species in that place,,.. o when i see this pictures i got transported i can even smell it. they calm my soul for a while all my best vibration.

Shweet, those zapo's look so trippy
And the pasture photo is nice to see also. It looks so chill there, safe, unbothered. What species were you looking for in the pasture?
And that is one hell of a Reishi too. That is a Ganoderma of some kind right? I've never seen a reishi stem quite so long before.
Thanks for sharing

It sure is. No worries about angry farmers or cops out to get mushroom pickers, just some really chill cows.

Pasture lands like that grow Psilocybe cubensis, Panaeolus cyanescens, Psilocybe mexicana and maybe P. jaliscana.

Yes, a nice shiny Ganoderma in the reishi complex.
