Cactus Grafting?
    #7556656 - 10/24/07 07:46 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Hey, I'm new to the whole cactus/succulent thing.

I was just wondering what the point is to graft a cactus?

Is it just for looks, or does it mix the chemicals in the two plants or something? And how does this/these plant(s) end up growing (does it make little combination of the two plants, or do they grow seperately)?

Thanks!

they grow faster, the two plants remain separate, just the root stock feeds the graft.

so generally u would use a fast growing root stock for a slow growing scion to speed growth... but any cactus can be grafted to another if one desires...

some people just do it cos they can, but the real point of grafting is to ease the proagation of rarer and slow growing species.
