Heavy Mistings
    #7556211 - 10/24/07 05:58 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Does anyone use heavy misting while your casings are fruiting and then simply fan them really well afterwards. I make sure the caps and fruits don't have any water droplets left on them.

My casings seem to dry out really fast. I have a lot of air circulation and don't get as many mistings in a day.

Cheers

more frequent short misting is better than a few heavy mistings
but I do the same thing, and just fan really well like you said
doesn't seem to h urt my fruits

RR gave me great advice the other day....my casing were looking really dried out in the middle of a flush. so I poured water on the sides of the container until the casing was floating in water. let it sit like that for around 2 hours and the drained. hydrated very well

good luck

heavy mistings are bad since they can "seal" up the casing layer, abort pins, cause bruising etc etc.The problem sounds like way too much fae and not enough humidity because even with 60% humidity it shouldnt dry out that quickly.

RH above 70%= no mistings
50-70%=1 or 2
30-50% = 2 or 3
0-30 = 5 mistings

this is My opinion, but i get very nice results with this.

Umm Lol? you need to mist no matter what since evaporation is always happening from the casing layer and has to be replenished.

Heavy misting can cause overlay. You want to humidify the casing without saturating it.

There are some good pics here
