4 oz (1/4 pint) jars too small?
    #7554792 - 10/24/07 12:33 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

when my NADS (neighbor's aunt's dog sitter) went shopping for jars he had a choice between quart and 1/4 pint jars. he didn't have a PC so he went with 1/4 pints to make standard pf tek cakes.

my NADS has recently been informed that a jar that small might not have enough moisture/substrate to sustain a good flush. my NADS was sad.

my NADS was wondering if anyone has had any success (no matter how small) with such a small jar.

my NADS was also wondering about what he could do to improve his situation as his jars are already at about 80%.

would casing help?

would a peat/verm 50/50 casing provide enough nutrients and moisture to get my NADS a better result?

does anyone think my NADS' cakes dunk and rolled will produce even a small flush?

any advice is much appreciated

They should work fine. I would case them in a 50/50. Check out some of the teks for that. Definitely dunk though.

cool, he's looked at some teks for that.
he was going to keep it more simple, but now that he realizes his jar substitution made a difference he'll change up a bit.

thanks

Yeah, I'd definitely case them. You will get a way higher yield, if done correctly. I couldn't imagine getting more than a few grams dried off of cakes that size. Good luck though, let us know how it goes!

I'll relay the results when I can
I suspect it'll be a couple of weeks now.
he's not expecting, or in need of too much.
the hobby itself is pretty cool, the fruits are a nice bonus.

my NADS couldn't do it without all the good people and good advice from the shroomery.

big thanks
