so i just let a friend drive home
    #7553333 - 10/23/07 11:51 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

who is entirely too drunk to drive, and after witnessing him driving out of my drive way i feel really bad.

I tried, don't get me wrong, be their was no having it, and i am not about to hold him against his will even though i should have.

at least he only lives like 10 blocks away.

but you should have seen him pull out of my driveway. honking his horn at the car PARKED in front of him because he was on the curb waiting for them to move like he was at a stop light or something.

I would have taken his keys or something. If he has a crash and gets hurt, or even killed, imagine how you'd feel? Good on you for trying, but sometimes trying isn't enough.

don't feel too guilty
it was his choice

he chose to get shitfaced and to drive

I disagree. People under the influence of alcohol CAN'T make proper decisions, therefore it is the responsibility of the sober person to make sure they look after themselves. I'm not trying to be an asshole, but letting people drink drive is one of the most stupid things a mate can do. I hear adverts on the radio EVERY DAY about this very problem. Mates don't let mates drink drive.

Just don't let it happen again. Too many people are getting killed on the roads... :frown:

it was his friend's fault that he got so shitfaced
not his
his friend CHOSE to drink a lot

the best he could do was so 'no, don't drive'
and if his friend didn't listen
well fuck

tough luck

Fair enough. I'm glad I don't have friends that share your attitude regarding drink driving.

it's probably from the countless times i had to save my friends' asses when they were shitfaced drunk

had to drive them home
break them into their house
clean up all their puke

and i don't even get a thanks in the morning 'cause they don't remember shit

people just need to drink more responsibly

similar situation: i'm in a band, we play at a local bar on tuesdays, we just got done with our show, and were back at my buddies house (the bassist) to unpack all our shit. well, our buddy anthony left to go home, and we saw a cop speed off after him.

After i unloaded my shit i went off lookin to see if he got pulled over, sure enough, two streets over he was pulled over and him and his passenger were out of the car.

hopefully nothing bad happens ::fingers crossed::

i appreciate the advice... But i really did try, i had the keys, but he just got aggressive and a little out of his mind. I have been their too. I hate being the babysitter but i will if i have too.

But sometimes you just can't stop people. i have yet to talk since i went out of town the following morning. I hope things are fine. i will call him as soon as my roomate gets home so that i can use his phone.

i am sure he made it. i do feel guilty, but sometimes it is hard to stop a drunk.
