flipped cakes...for how long?
    #7552147 - 10/23/07 06:32 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

I just turned my cakes upside down to encourage growth. I would rather not leave them this way as a a good bit of moisture dripped down to the bottom(top), and I don't want any contaminants flaring up whre my inoculation holes are. What is the minimum amount of time I should leave them flipped?

Thanks,
M

Flipping cakes was a highly debated topic, no one really knows if it has any benifits as its never really been tested properly.

And your right, moisture leaking to your dry verm barrier could be a bad thing, allowing contams to wick thru to your substrate.

I flipped them back.....If they don't colonize all the way to the bottom, I will cut that part out.

I am over cakes anyway. Grain the way to go....

Thanks,
M
