MONTREAL-A new study says cannabis can be effective in fighting depression at low doses, but at higher doses can worsen depression and other psychiatric conditions.
The study by McGill University and Universite de Montreal, to be published Wednesday, says cannabis in low doses can increase serotonin levels in the brain.
Anti-depression drugs work by increasing the serotonin levels in the brain.
But the study showed when higher doses were injected into lab rats, the effect was described as completely reversed, even devastating.
Lead researcher Dr. Gabriella Gobbi of McGill says using cannabis as an anti-depressant is problematic because it's hard to control the dosage when cannabis is smoked in the form of marijuana joints.
Gobbi says she was prompted to conduct the research after noticing several of her patients suffering from depression used to smoke cannabis.

That's very interesting. Actually, I agree with that study, due to personal experience. Cool article.

Vaporize!
Joints are a really wasteful, harmful way to smoke in my opinion.

yeah but you might not get the beneficial cannaboids. it really depends if they vaporize at the same temperature that THC does, but if they require a higher temperature, then it could in fact be the opposite, that vaporizing is wasteful. i don't know the answer, however people have reported mixed feelings on the effects vaporizing and how it has a bit different effects, and not always prefered.

that's why you get one with a variable temperature dial. I get plenty of cannabinoids from mine, cook it untill nothing comes out, and end up with crisp brown nuggets that have no effect when smoked. One little pellet loaded into the glass pipe (convection heated, and some conduction as it heats through the glass walls) would be enough for about a half inch in a joint, but does the job of two inches. Less (or in the case of my joy, much less) is wasted.

Joints were actually found the be the most healthy way to smoke in maps tests. Apparently the cannabis is a joint absorbs the tar and other nasties before it can reach the lungs, works as a filter. It also has a lower burning temp, and greater thc transfer rate which means you have to smoke less.

Go complain to the establishment. If cannabis were cheaper then we could all just eat it. Marinol is not a valid option. The idea is to get away from the clutches of corporate interests.
I completely relate to the findings of the article though, and It really makes a lot of sense in my opinion.

maybe you get good results, but it's defeating the purpose of vaporizing if you put the temperature too high.
