xaeviax said: Here is my take on this. I was raised a catholic and had the whole christianity thing rammed down my throat. I believe there is a God, I dont, however, think that christianity or buddhism or islam or any religion for that matter is the right way to go about it. But, Id like to ask a question; whats wrong with having faith? Faith, to some people is like a drug. It makes them feel good and it gives them something more than just go to work, eat, breed and die. I know nearly everyone here can relate to that.
I dont think its foolish to believe in a higher being. We are way way too advanced an animal to have just evolved into what we are without there being some help. There must have been a plan. Why is it that humans are the only ones to come this far? There isnt another living creature on earth that even comes near to the intelligence of a human.
I dont go to church anymore, I havnt in a few years. But I do pray. Ive built my own relationship with God. A relationship that doesnt require me forking over money, or telling my sins to another person, priest or not. God can hear me just fine, besides, he is omniscient. He already knows what ive done wrong. Can you tell, I have some beef with the christian church.
I feel that believing in God does give your life purpose. I cant imagine having to live my life feeling that when I die, thats it. Im not saying God is the reason I get up in the morning, but He sure makes my days a bit more meaningful.
so god designed every species of plant and animal?
i think whats happening on this planet is incredible (life) but i really dont think its god
WHAT MADE GOD? nobody can answer this because it is an endless loop
Im not discrediting evolution. But something had to have pushed it along. Honestly, I dont know what created God. Maybe He was created by chance.
you say He as if its a human
bottomline, when it comes to god or gods, everyone should go watch some Richard Dawkins videos
go to youtube type in Richard Dawkins CNN, there are many many videos of him

I've often though that religions were formed to encourage a loving and peaceful way of life. I'm not saying all that is in the bible is a load of crap, but maybe the stories are metaphors or examples to live by, as opposed to pure fact.

to me, life is just a long waiting line to the inevitable Deathville.
god is infinite and all encompassing. all names we have created for god are futile for the power of the holy spirit resides in everything and is infinite. god(n)+god(n+1)+god(n+x)......= GOD = the holy spirit = in my opinion the spirit of the universe.
i do not refer to the christian god, but rather to all gods. to me they are all one.
does this seem crazy to anyone?
would you ever have expected these words from a christian?
cus i am.

That's the best response i've ever heard to that question.
