whats up guys...and gals. long time no see. ive only grown once and posted a log on here, did brf cakes that i ordered. After being disappointed with my results and a move across the US, time for the 2nd grow. I already have plenty of jars cologinized and rezdy to fruit...just one noob problem... when making my jars for the first time, i didnt take into account the shape of the jar, and my cakes are stuck.. any specific ways to get them out without breaking the jars?? this is prolly a noob ass question and mistake, but hey ive always been pretty good at learning the hard way.. the jars arnt that important...since i will never use them again anyways... i just dont feel like breaking a bunch on glass..thanks guys..

im trying not to crumble myc in jar...for my first casing i want to try and cut the myc in equal portions 1 in, and fill in holes with crumbled, i want to get the pin set level as possible. ill go home and try to shake them a little harder, i was beating the hell out of the jar, just knocked it loose a bit.. would adding a slight bit of water lube it up or anything?

well they deff cant be shaken out of the jar...time to break tha bitches i guess. i was going to case with straight verm but after reading about it, figured id go with about a 70/30 verm/coir. i dont have a pc yet, so should i steam steileize the casing materials like i did the brf jars? or just go ahead mix the two and take the chance. and also is using this for the casing layer, do i still put damp verm on bottom, or the mix. thanks

I just took a spoon long enough, washed, soaked with alcohol, and scooped out the myc when I couldn't get mine out. Or atleast break it up with the spoon so you are able to pour it out. I just scooped mine No need to layer the bottom with verm, it's better without it. I think you need to reevaluate your casing mix and consistently look at the different methods to learn how they work (teks n such). Peat moss will work better than coir in a casing layer, muchly because of it's texture. Also make sure you don'tt just read a few posts of people with no avatars and 8 posts and assume that info is reliable. But that's not saying that everyone with over 200 posts and an avatar knows everything.
For best results, I think you should study not only methods and teks, but also understand pinning triggers, optimal fruiting conditions, and delivery.
Here are some great links, enjoy!

sweet that works...thanks one question tho. i dont have a pc YET. so can i steam sterilze the peat moss for 90min or so or what?? im just trying to get away with what i can not using a pc this grow. i will have one by next grow. i tried using jimmy mix once, put in the microwave, and some cakes i rolled it in went bad 1/2 thru the flush. do u think i could get away with steam sterlizing the casing layer?

“To pasteurize a casing layer, simply bring it to field moisture level, then heat to 140-150F for an hour.” – Agar
That's a simple method to use in the oven. If you don't have or know anything that will work in the oven, go to kroger and buy some Reynold's Oven Bags. Remember, field capacity ("field moisture level" as quoted) is not getting the casing layer to the perfect moisture level to immediately apply to your casing. Well, got classes to go to!
Keep readin up, you'll learn more than you think you could.
