I put my first cake into my terrarium. it colonized faster than the other cakes so its by itself in there. Everything was looking great it was getting all white and fuzzy and these little white tentacles are starting to pop up everywhere. Great,,, then fuck i just look at it now and there are a few little grey spots on it some of the spots have white mycellium moving over them a bit. Like the mold popped up and the myc is growing over it. What do i do? other than those grey spots this cake looks amazing. I hope i don't gotta chuck it... What about making a pop bottle terrarium? and secluding it. IS there a chance that the cake will battle away the grey stuff?

if its cobweb mold you can spray it with H202. It will harm the cake but melt away the cobweb. pics would help.

did it take over rather quickly? if so its cobweb and can be killed off by using hydrogen peroxide.

Ok i had doubt's that it was cobweb you could say it might look a bit like bread mold maybe or that mold that you see on an orange sometimes kinda greyish powdery and whatnot. what about hydrogen peroxide suggested previously? can it work?

It probably won't work. If I were you I would try the h202 on it, but don't expect anything. Just keep the cake isolated. You should take a q-tip and rub it over the area. If anything comes off, its mold, if not, it's just weaker mycelium that hasn't established itself....and why the fuck does the spell check catch "mycelium"?

SO I PUT 100% H2O2 ON MY STUFF AND IT SMELLED FUNNY THEN CAUGHT FIRE AND IM DEAD
I've heard 3-6% H2O2 in water works alright and wont hurt your mycelium too much

Based on your first description, it might just be rhizomorphic mycelium. If it spreads through out the whole jar in a day or two, it's probably cobwebs, but if it's just next to your mycelium it's probably fine. Keep an eye on it.
Cobweb mold in jars are rare, but I got it the first time I inoculated.

If you mix pure HCL with pure H2O2, you're in for a blast.
100% pure bleach is not good on ANYTHING. (except perhaps motel bathrooms. yuck.)

It's a good thing bleach wasn't even mentioned then... or hydrochloric acid.
You don't need to dilute the h202 before you spray. In the US it is usually sold in 3%.

i mixed javex into water and have some at hand always in a spray bottle quite frequently i spray down the surfaces in my room with this mixture. Once my new spores come i am going to be sure to do another full sterilization of my washroom. shit its 10 volume 3% i watered it down a bit but it probably did the trick i uhh didn't spray, i donned a surgical mask and used cotton swabs doesed with the liquid, carefully excising the crap off, it was nice to see that it wasn't very thick at all the i removed a little piece of cake from under each mold bump

A pic would be really handy, there was a really mature picture of cobweb on here, can

check out that thread.
Sometimes i have mistaken some fuzzines for cobweb and navigate here to remind myself
