Thyroid problems?

Anybody have experience with thyroid problems? My chiropractor seems to think I have one. He gave me a bunch of stuff that's supposed to correct it, but I don't really see a difference.

I'm hypothyroid, but minimally so compared to my other family members.
What's up with your gland and what's the doctor giving you?

Sorry for all the questions, but...
So your chiropractor told you he thinks you have an imbalance based upon what kind of tests? Do you think you have an imbalance? Did you actually have bloodwork done to determine the amount of hormone you need? Having too much thyroid hormone can be just as damaging to your health as having too little....
I don't know anything about those supplements besides them probably being really quite costly. It seems like they'd be used for an underactive thyroid.
How long have you been taking those supplements? Time provides the results I get from taking my prescription. When I first started taking them, it took me prolly 3 weeks to feel "better." If you haven't noticed a change in anything, maybe you don't really need it. Also, consider that your lack of hormone is not enough to warrant taking supplements. Seriously, what's the point of putting all that stuff into your body if you don't really need it to function properly.
I pay $4 a month for my script from the supermarket pharmacy, btw. Yeah it's synthetic, not raw concentrate from animals, but it's cheap and gets the job done. I haven't noticed it "poisoning" my body as I feel other pharms do.

Oh yeah
Females are the most susceptible to thyroid deficiencies, it's really uncommon in males. Considering this message board is almost entirely populated by males, you may not get much response.

I was given something by the chiro called "T3" for converting thyroid hormone from T4 to T3...but it didn't make a noticeable difference.
You might want to be careful. Even though the risk is relatively small, there is the possibility of contracting a TSE (transmissible spongiform encephalopathy) from products containing animal glands, brains, spinal fluid, or certain other organs. Cows, pigs, sheep, and some other animals like mink and cats have been found to transmit the disease in this manner. Creutsfeldt-Jakob Disease, Mad Cow Disease, and Kuru are all forms of TSEs, and believe me, they are some truly horrifying diseases. The risk goes up with every pill you ingest, so you might wanna go to the doctor and have some more conclusive tests run if you're concerned about such risks. While it's possible to have subclinical (not showing up on tests) thyroid problems, anything classified as actual hypo or hyperthyroidism will show up on a medical test and can be treated by taking medication or having surgery (just a pill in the case of hypothyroidism).

That's exactly my situation. Taking T3s; not noticing shit.

I can conclude then that Japan has a higher occurrence of transmissible spongiform encephalopathy, or that their cases are under reported...or that other criteria is responsible for the generation of a TSE.

I'm pretty sure I have hyperthyroidism but still waiting another month for my first appointment with an endocrinologist. All I know for sure is that my thyroid gland is acting up, I can't sleep, I get hot easily and I'm losing some hair. I'm on no medication I was wondering if it'd still be cool to shroom? I've completely cut out alcohol and cigarettes, I know it's ok to toke up but I haven't really found anything on this

@OP Don't take medical advise from a chiropractor. Like others have said go see a doctor. If you really a have problem it would be wise to know the underlying cause, and to make sure the treatment is working, which you will need a blood work for. Synthetic thyroid hormone is cheap and effective, but you shouldn't fuck around with stuff like that, and without blood work, you're fucking around.
@lala330 That sounds like hyperthyroidism. Check your resting pulse. It should be high. Your systolic blood pressure might be high too with a normal diastolic blood pressure. You might also be irritable and losing weight. I have a hyperactive thyroid (it's being treated now, so it's fine) and for a while it felt like I was taking amphetamines but missing out on the all fun effects.
