2 Gallon Monotub: questions?

Hi there, I'm about to embark on my first mycological experience. I've decided to use a 2 gallon plastic tub, monotub style. Its about 1 foot high, and the same wide and long - so basically 1ft cubed, haha.
Anyway, after my BRF cakes are fully colonised, I plan to crumble them as per monotub tek and case with a 50/50 coir/verm mix, as well as a small amount of honey [1tsp/2cups of coir & verm mix]. This would be pasturised to get rid of any nasties of course. The bottom and sides of the tub would be taped for light-proofness.
I'm thinking of using an aquarium bubbler inside the monotub for humidity and FAE, would that be beneficial, or simply too difficult for too little gain? Exhaust would be a simple few holes stuffed with the cotton-wool-like stuff that doesnt absorb moisture.
Thats my plan so far, does anyone have any comments?
Cheers - boingkster

Hi
The point of the monotub is that there's like no work. So why would you put an aquarium bubbler? Don't over work it, it'll get its FAE and keep up with humidity by itself.
What's your substrate?

Thanks for the tip nephrosis, I'll be leaving the bubbler out of it then, unless anyone highly recommends otherwise.
I may be slightly confused on the substrate matter though - I thought the substrate for a monotub grow was something akin to what I had above [the coir/verm mix], which goes straight over the mylecium cake, which in turn is just put on the plastic bottom of the tub...then when the coir/verm gets colonised you fruit it?

Think of it like this...when you made your 1/2pt jars, you made a substrate to put into the jars right? Then, if you added a dry layer of verm over your substrate, that was kinda like a casing layer..Or, at least the same kind of principle. For a monotub, usually, one will use some type of medium (ie, wbs, rye, crumbled cakes) and spawn it to a bulk substrate like hpoo or something else. Once you have your spawn mixed in real well with your bulk substrate, you can either set it and let the top layer colonize before adding your non-nutritive casing layer, or you can go ahead and add the casing layer after mixing up your bulk sub with the spawn.
In your case, it doesn't seem like you're gonna be spawning your crumbled cakes to any kind of bulk substrate. Basically, it sounds like you're doing the crumble and case method, which works fine. I've done it many times with cakes. Once you decide what casing material you are gonna use (50/50, MGMC, etc...) then you can go ahead and put that down on top of your crumbled cakes.
But, from what you've posted, it may seem like you're still a little confused about some things. A monotub doesn't have a bubbler or anything else in it. It's a set it and forget it, type of setup. I would suggest you spend some more time really reading through the forums and use the search engine. There's a ton of beneficial information in there. I'm not trying to be a prick, so please don't take this the wrong way. Good luck on your grow and I hope you get the results you're looking for!

Thanks for the overview juris1, thats pretty much what I thought I should be doing. I'm set on using the crumble and case method - good to hear that it has worked for you too. Don't worry about telling me to search, thats cool. I have, just havent found the exact answers I was after Thanks for the x5 as well!
With the bubbler, I guess I was looking for a little something more than a plain monotub as the grow logs or reviews I've read seem to say that co2 build-up was a bit of a problem. I don't mind tending to something if it means better results, but I do mind making extra effort if theres no point to it - you see what I mean?
Anywho, I might so something interesting and do a side-by-side grow with a monotub, and the exact same tub...with [guess what?] a bubbler. Be interesting to see how it turns out.
Cheers for now - boingkster
