i recently came upon a vast field of these and they look strikingly like liberty caps to me, thou i am an amateur at this whole thing. they do have a thin layer that you can peel off just with your finger nail

i've also come across these shrooms, thou the first i believe isn't active, i'de like to know if n e one can tell me what the second pic is of, i found it among about 12 much larger specimens.

Top, i believe to be a common Psathyrella.
Second. Coprinus lagopus or similar species.
third. Not sure. Gills look vividly blue, which leads me to say Lactarius indigo on a long shot. not enough info.

Yes, I would say that. For a good ID you need to post a real ID request. See the ID sample sticky in the hunting Forums. Also, a thin film (pellicle) is often a sign of a Psilocybe species. You might have P. pelliculosa, but I don't know enough about them to ID that for you. I'm sticking with Psathyrella.

Depends on what species, also like jet li said post a proper id request if you want one. Apparantly most Psathyrella taste quite bitter and most species are listed as unedible.

Yeah, Psathyrella is a genus I've never tried eating. There are a few species that can be identified without too much trouble, but most of them are much too hard to ID accurately to eat. Most of them are a bit too small to bother with, anyway. None of them are known to be dangerously poisonous, but the vast majority are unknown.
Happy mushrooming!
