too much mind can be the worst mind.
I know what it is like, I have long since mastered the art of not looking people in the eyes and making it seem natural as hell.
Its scary when you look into someone's eyes, especially the pure ones. Unfortunately they are the ones I desire to be around most. It usually isn't a problem with dudes though. Fuck them.

What about blinking/staring contests... usually there is no emotion involved there, at least for me. I wonder if the situation or context makes a difference.

well i dont have trouble looking people in the eyes, but when i am hanging out with people and they want to talk, i dont let them wear sun glasses while talking to me if i dont know them very well.
if you are talking to me i will ask you to take your shades off. to look into your eyes. i am very weird about it and dont usually ask somebody to do so unless i am interested in knowing something about them, but have found that if somebody does not look me in the eye while talking, then they are probably not worth talking to.
for those that do not look into others eyes i suggest you start doing so,
first of all, start with your own.

Your eyes look more sinister than dead to me (not an insult). Also, what the hell. lol. That guy on the right looks like he's exhaling some radioactive deathsmoke, like he just took a bong hit of plutonium.

LOL, I started flipping up my shades and eye fucking them with my acid crazed eyes, that way they know.
It helped me get over my silly fears anyways, I always hide behind shades.

i kind of understand this though. when i talk to someone who has shades on, i feel almost vulnerable cuz i hate when i dont know if people are looking at me. similarly, when i have shades on, I notice an immediate boost in confidence, cuz noone knows what im looking at and noone can "read" me based on my eyes.

people looking in the eye also have secrets, it's just that they have no moral or ethical bounds that generate shame for it.
