are you a caretaker of the earth?

Do you pick up trash when you see it? What do you do to help preserve nature when you are out in it? What nice things do you do to other motorists out on the road to be considerate, or to other people when you are in public? Have you planted trees or plants? Is there something you have been thinking about doing that would help to preserve our earth for the better?
I ask so we can share everything we do with others. I miss the inspirational posts from Altered Again, so here's one of mine.

No I'm planning on letting the nukes clean my junk up once and for all.

I don't do much. I recycle, I don't drive (but not by choice ), I eat lots of organic/vegan foods, I smile at people when I pass them on the street, I dream of a world without so much pavement... I'd like to learn how to garden, maybe even how to farm, someday.
I think your posts are just as inspirational as AA's.

picking up trash only makes things look cleaner and might make things a little more sanitary in that area. reducing trash output (which involves reducing inputs of trashable [non-compostable/recyclable/reusable]) is what should be aimed for.
how does being courteous to motorists (which motorists in and of themselves are most likely hurting the earth directly/indirectly unless their vehicle has no negative emissions or inputs to be mobile) make one a caretaker of the earth?

I agree with the first part, although there will still be trash regardless so we gotta keep picking it up. Also, being courteous to motorists was just an example of doing nice things for fellow man, which I would consider vital to a caretaker type role.

Angry motorists leads to fewer humans -> less environmental impact.

But if you make someone mad, they might drive with their windows down with their fist out the air (creating more drag and bad gas mileage), not to mention they're probably flooring the accelerator to catch up to you.

I look after the earth every day when I take a dump. That's me giving something back for the plants I ate.

unfortunately, your waste isn't actually going back to the earth. it's sitting in a facility that holds solid waste until enough is collected that it will probably be buried in a container somewhat deep in the ground. so no, you're really not contributing anything back. but, this is a good thing for our large-scale society and the health of it

Hereabouts we put it in the rivers after treatment. Slurry washed off farms is blamed for the flesh eating disease in estuaries because it isn't treated. We treat ours before putting it back in the rivers.

Yeah it's pretty gross to see town after town drinking water from a well and flushing the sewers into the rivers after treatment. I suppose the treated slurry could be used on farms?
