Genesis
    #7546954 - 10/22/07 01:42 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

"And the earth brought forth vegetation: herbage yielding seed after its kind, and trees yielding fruit, each containing its seed after its kind. And God saw that it was good."

"And God saw that it was good."

Except for opium, salvia, peyote, cubensis, marijuana; etc.

For today's Christians and other moralists know better than God which of his creations are 'good'.

Thank the Lord for barley, wheat, rice, corn, grapes, potatoes, and anything else that'll ferment and get us drunk'r'n fuck.  Where would Western culture be without alcohol to loosen up young Protestant women for their first sexual experiences?

I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

I came to know Christ despite ingesting a lot of these plants.

There are a lot of poisonous plants out there that I would not eat, but they are still part of God's creation. So I don't think God promotes the eating or smoking of all His creation.

I do wonder a bit what would happen if some time down the road I were to trip again. But I think if I did, I'd be going against everything that I learned in my last bout with them.

The lessons I learned got progressively more stern, and I don't think God likes his people tripping their brains out. It leaves us quite vulnerable to things he doesn't want influencing us.

What these things did to me was cause me to question authority or outright disrespect it. Something that leads me to believe the God I know does not endorse their usage.

Or maybe it is the community that surrounds their usgage which got me thinking the way I did. In retrospect I can hardly believe things turned out the way they did.

Just speculation about God's purpose for these plants though. Something I will have to ask about one day.:)

It sounds to me like you have been brainwashed.

Questioning authority has been the reason for, like, every progressive shift in human thought, ever.  Not questioning authority results in things like the Catholic Church, the Iraq War, the subjugation of Muslim women, and on and on...

I am sure every plant has a natural, very useful purpose. I think it is our duty as human beings to find that purpose.

Sounds like you should have followed through on this a little more fully, but you got scared and retreated. There's much to learn - questioning authority is a necessary, vital beginning. Don't lose yourself.

and I don't think God likes his people tripping their brains out. It leaves us quite vulnerable to things he doesn't want influencing us.

Yes daddy, no daddy.

Good thing I'm not one of "Gods people". Actually I think they all live in "Gods Country" which is in Wisconsin.

I also think that people who are done using drugs should go somewhere else to post as they are beneath us now.
