Help setting up lights, questions
    #7546614 - 10/22/07 12:08 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

So i want to setup a grow light for 3-4 plants. Im confused on how exactly to vent the heat. I know fans come on the ballasts sometimes, but is this always the case?

If I used florescent bulbs and a fixture from home depot which would be best.

Know that to get decent yields from 4 plants you will need a lot of floros though.
Make sure that your plants are low(look into LST) so that they get enough light on all parts of the plants.

I didn't even know you could grow cannabis with fluorescents.

It's possible and some of the floros (T15?) are supposed to put off a bit of light.

Regardless, MH/HPS will yield better if you don't mind the added electrical cost (which really is nominal) and heat.

Some growers are great with fluoros and gets great yields but to me they have always seemed unnecessarily difficult to work with.
You wont get as good yield/m2 with fluoros but if you are good and work a lot on your grow you can get the same yield/watt you must need a bigger grow-area(the light doesn't penetrate the canopy as well so you need to have very low plants),

Due to their very low heat and power usage, I've considered lining the back wall of the "grow chamber" with floros, but the cost will exceed just buying tried and true hps/mh bulbs with good penetration.
