cyans don't really like bark of ANY kind of tree, because it's usually not cut.
And this is different from what I said how??? Being cut has nothing to do with it.
For chris' sake Jackass stop with the newb advice

Btw n0nservatum welcome to the shroomery. You may look back through this post and start to think that auweia is a master hunter and a valuable asset to this board but then you will become annoyed with him and wish he would leave like the rest of us do.

Thats not true, almost no one is annoyed with him.
No one is ignoring him, but four people are ignoring you.

that is a good point AR but he is still an idiot for saying that I was giving out newb information but then repeating the same info in his post.

I'm down with both of you two.
Auweia, saying he was giving "newbie advice" may not have been warranted. I didn't see what was wrong with his speculation.
I don't think that how "cut up" the bark is, is relative to colonization. It certainly might help, but what you're saying about the "break in the cell walls" is kinda odd, since the bark breaks when it peels off the tree.

stamets believes that cyanescens came from within the forest and believes that it is linked to Douglas fir due to its fondness of the tree and its cones.
Auweia, I looked at your pics and i did not see any huge cyan/fib patches that were under eucalyptus or that were covered in piles of the leaves. Your pics of the big patches are in straight wood chips. Cyan's grow under eucalyptus, sure. But the leaves and bark are usually removed. AS for a certain % of the bay/park being covered in eucalyptus. AS a defense eucalyptus does not allow other plants to grow around it. If you find cyan's in a park in sf odds are that there will be a eucalyptus near by.
As for your theory that the cyan's came in with the eucalyptus, hhmmmmm? I have talked to many people older than you that say that they brought the cyan's down from the pnw. they would carry live mycelium with them and plant it in the park which would explain the speed at which the populated the area.
Vancouver bc= popular hippie/homeless spot, cyan's. Seattle pnw=popular hippie/homeless spot, cyan's. Arcata ca=popular hippie/homeless spot, cyan's. Sf=popular hippie/homeless spot, cyan's. Santa Cruz=popular hippie/homeless spot, cyan's.
This isn't science but it is a very realistic theory.

I will never, ever post photos of background images showing eucalyptus trees in the background, because you helped put a stop to that practice, remember?
If there are any eucalyptus trees within 50 feet of any of your pics we will be able to tell. Start showing us impressive pics of cyans growing within 10 feet of a eucalyptus with normal eucalyptus leaf litter on the ground. I do not want to see a picture of 2 lone cyans growing near some leaves.

show me Heavy leaf/bark litter. Once again you miss the point. This is why I asked if you smoke too much weed?
If you would take your meds and not jump all over my post you would realize that I answered this post.

Does anyone know if anything can grown in Eucalyptus tree bark that peels off the trees and tends to collect around the bases of the tree?
You posting this pic is suspect also. One can see the stem butts in the photo. Looks like a cheap attempt at photo shop.

Hey Guys!
Wow. Awesome forum!! Glad to see a discussion got started. The rivalry is dramatic! I am surrounded by the eucalyptus on the peninsula and look forward to posting any finds I come across.
I'm pleased to discover that I am surrounded by wonderful mushroom loving plants and trees in the bay area! I'm also an avid hiker/ mountain biker so I look forward to many leisurely hunts!
As a side note I grew up in Alabama and use to get lots of cubensis as a teen from the various cow pastures. Those were good times. There was a place called the "Field of Dreams' down around Montevallo college.

nice, well you will recognize the psilocybe smell when you pick them. You will also notice that these are not your grampas cubes when you eat them.

Can you both shut up and stop antagonizing each other? I think youre both awesome but seriously, your bickering is clogging the Bay thread. You both have good ideas and dont like each others opinions. WE GET IT. HOW BOUT YOU BOTH PM EACH OTHER ABOUT UR PROBLEMS???
other than that, I hope to start harvesting panaeolus subbalteatus really soon. in the next two weeks. If anyone finds a subbalteatus or foesnisecci for that matter, start posting pics so we know theyre around again.
