I wasn't going to give away specific coordinates, but perhaps create a form that would be able to submit the area to a private database, creating statistics for that particular area. After enough submissions, the script would output a color-coded map of Northern CA, showing where certain species are common (based on colors that would correspond to a particular species). Its more of a project i'd like to start up with a few hunters, not to give away spots, but to collect data for a potential project.

I'm not certain that was his intention... It was somewhat unclear. He may just want photos.
In which case, kisps, you may be a little bit late.

2 of my three local patches have no new activity. The third had only one or two pins (but i was in a rush, so i may have looked some over).

I have some more patches to check on tomorrow.

Well, let me know if you want to meet up, I will be free during the day (Thursday), as well as on the weekend. I have a car if you need to be picked up, and would pay your lunchfare if you'd take me and my lady along for a hike/walk into teh woods. We'll have a picnic! That goes for any other locals, free picnic/transportation on me if you'd like to take me along with you to a spot.

Umm...  In North CA actives are not typically hunted in the woods...?

I'm suspicious at this point... sorry.  :ohwell:

You've not yet established yourself here.  Risky business.  My apologies.

My apologies, I guess i'll sit back and watch the show for a while then. I have hunted near the Lexington reservoir in the Santa Cruz mountains, but also in my backyard. By woods I meant wherever fungi is to be found. Most of the psilocybe varieties I have encountered haven't been in the woods, but rather in more public places outdoors along paved trails, backyards, parks, and other similar spots near trees and wood. I have been up into Northern Californian forests and have had luck with psilocybe cyanescens along trails in the Arcata/Humboldt area, all of those hunts involved a hike though. Pardon my wording of 'woods'.

That is rather unusual habitat for Ps. cyanescens.

Hunting Cyans is a skill and an art form. It takes a good understanding of people, and ability to act and adapt to different situations.
It has never been a care free, hike in the woods for me.

excellently put CC. Its a skill that has taught me much more than just where to find drugs.

Its so totally the coolest artform ever! :tripping:

The Ps. cyanescens I did come across was found in a pile of wood chips. While looking around near a fallen tree on the side of the path, my mind and eyes became entangled upon an moving, interwoven pattern of living material (I had taken some nice paper blotter earlier that day). As I sat there, I began to realize that I was not only staring at wood, but also a group of 6-7 Cyans. They were standing out from the wood in a fabulous neon green color at the time, upon closer examination I began to wonder if I had actually found them, or if it was just part of the hallucination. My friend was called over, who couldn't see them at first (she kept telling me that it was just the acid tricking me), so I pointed my finger down at one, and she was able to recognize them from the similarly colored surrounding wood matter. I don't think I would have made this discovery had it not been for the LSD I had taken, the mushrooms looked like they were glowing, but were well camoflauged as my friend informed me.

Mushroom hunting requires you to train your eyes to see them.

It is often hard to find the first one, but then once you have a target, picking them out of otherwise good camouflage is a cinch.

A couple from a quick 1hr round today:

Umm.... well, dogs usually have the same susceptibility to poisonous mushrooms as we do. So I would not allow your dogs to eat anymore. There are some poisonous Agaricus species, which is what genus those mushrooms are in. The orange/red staining is a good sign it is not a poisonous species, but you should also smell the mushroom, to distinguish if it has a chemical-like odour. The poisonous ones smell decidedly chemical, phenol, or bleach like.
