These are cultivated subaeruginascens from a while back. My outdoor patch started to pin, but I fear it's too cold now to support a crop. We've been getting some light snow.

YEAH!..these look like what I found in Richmond, but not quite like the ones Curecat posted....why is that?...I just can't put my finger on it
so close, yet so far away, sorry curecat, it just ain't the same, imho
this series of photos from Waylit is the closest thing I can see to what I found

I've seen those photos. I thought for sure you had as well, seeing as you were aware of WayLitJims finds. Oh well.
Microscopically, the mushroom I have photos of, and your and WLJ's collections are the same. It's like how the "Cyanofriscosas" and Ps. cyanescens are the same microscopically, yet macroscopically distinct. Likely different phenotypes in both instances- meaning, same species.
I've brought up this parallel before- Just look at different dog breeds, or different human races. To the untrained eye, they could be construed as separate species.

I said it before and I will say it again. Global warming! Smog from china, the death of 2 polar bears, shrinking Arctic ice caps, growing Antarctic ice caps, 20% ethanol in the fuel, corn tortillas, beef prices, 9/11. They are all connected. Middle east oil!

Curecat: Excellent redwood Cyan pics. I have been waiting for those. Now once again, were thees hardwood chips moved to a location under redwood trees? Or is this actual growth from the redwood droppings? If it's not natural growth then i wonder how long they will continue to fruit under redwoods with a good supply of food.
Have you been back this year?

Tahoe, okay, iz gone. I considered you might be joking, but having read that post earlier i had to stir things up a little.
Pscyanescens. Those photos are from this weekend. This patch flushed nicely last year, and i have been watering it this year, and this is the first big flush.
Some time ago, i don't know how long ago, they put down what looks to be hardwood chips, and as the mycelium ran out of chips to munch on, they opted to eat the redwood litter that fell on top of the chips. You can see in the second to last photo that some are growing with redwood cones still attached.

Yes, i agree.
When you say "it just ain't the same", I think you mean that they aren't the same species. I agree they don't look the same. I pay close attention to these details, and am fascinated by variation. But I think they are most likely the same species.

so do you guys like these subaeruginascens?? I have a couple dozen prints and I will get them going on agar if they are worth it.
As for those wood chips I posted above, mushrooms will not grow on that stuff. Do not waste your time looking for them in those fake, dyded wood chips.
