I'd wait till after the rain.
However, if you can make it to the Oakland Museum Fungus Fair on sat or sun, that is definitely worth the trip.

Dissatisfied with recent yields from one of my main patches, I decided to take matters into my own hands, and began watering the patch about a week ago. Since then, i have made 3 trips to water, on the last mission I soaked things down with 4.5 gallons... I do this at night, since there are simply too many people around during the day, and I have an excuse for picking mushrooms, but no excuse for why this patch is so special that I take a dozen bottles down a couple times a week to water them...
Anyway, I went to check on how things are coming along, and was delighted to see the results! These photos are just a few of the numerous pins I found today. The bruised ones were there prior to watering, and did not make it, so they were picked. Sorry, some of them are out of focus. The traffic is really distracting when i'm trying to take photos.

Start watering your patches if you are equally impatient!

I've been dumping water on my patch too, and the results are fantastic. Dumped 2 gallons on Monday and today there was about 30 pristine specimens.
I've been taking a canvas shoulder bag with a 2 gallon water jug in it. I set it down next to the patch and let the water leak out. This is in a high traffic area. Well worth the risk!

Went to the City today and managed to pick 25 specimens . I found a new spot today and it had a lot of pins, How long do Cyans take to mature? Alos the spots watered and shaded all day.
