I covered a square mile of woodchips yesterday to no avail.  I'm sure someone beat me to the punch.

Still, there were lots of interesting mushrooms about and reason to be hopeful.  :sunny:

Fortunately, homebase is well-hidden.  I dropped by today on a whim and was surprised by the rate of growth.  Hopefully, the pins will get some water.

No excuses, but the Ps. cyanescens are at a difficult location for pictures.  :sunny:

WOW, i am quite surprised that you took him out auweia. lucky him to get such an experienced hunting partner.
but from the pictures, looks like its not too dry, or maybe they were just close to sprinklers. I'll be back in the bay area this week. I hope to see some mushrooms of any kind, haven't seen any in a little while down here.

well, it's a funny thing because never_2_high has been out to the park before, and it turns out I didn't really show him much he hasn't seen before. He had a bike too so it was easier on me. It is true that it is still too dry in many places and the photos are from watered areas

In case people don't know, Golden gate Park is famous for this, and it has been for many years, long before the Shroomery even existed. It's basically all landfill, with 100 years of mulch/woodchips/whatever.

It's so famous, that it's not really a problem to take people on a short tour, because there is two things that hold true about that park and these mushrooms

1) yes they grow there
2) you will never have your own spot in that park.

There's too many people crawling all over that park, all the time, 7 days a week.(looking for shrooms, and looking for each other as Urbanism just posted :P) You can always find a few if you spend enough time, but you'll never find the really big patches that only you know about until you graduate to the wider Bay Area

and that's really the point. The Bay Area is f*cking huge compared to GG park. 10,000 times the size of it, and like GGP, they also water some parts of it

as always, there is only one way to find out

get out there and look around yourself

PS, the continuing story of 'hunters' chasing each other around instead of mushrooms is almost like a 3 stooges comedy sometimes...I'm tellin ya

PPS, something like this,(not in GGP or even in SF, but in the Bay Area)) will never make it more than 24 hours in any section of GGP, I guarantee it. This sot would be picked over clean, including the pins (see the PNW thread)..It would be trashed, dug up, removed, transplanted in the first week, and most of the real pros would nod in agreement with that

but this spot, to this day, remains private,(known only to one person) despite being in the middle of traffic, not one person has messed with it in all these years...This spot is still getting bigger

That's a beautiful patch auweia!

And I would agree, I very rarely hunt in parks anymore.  Any place that can be printed out straight off the internet isn't worth my time.  The best places are the random woodchip piles in the middle of nowhere, with no reason for them being there.  All it takes is a couple private patches like that fruiting all season and it will make up the majority of your pickings.  Having tens of little patches that are being shared will never match up to a good private patch like that.

Wow. Talk about spore load and luck. I just found some cyans in my front yard. What are the ods. They were never planted. Must have been from the excessive amount of spores in teh garage from the dehydrator.
Awesome!!!

Now the big question. If i originally poached, stole the cyans that would have left the spores that produced this little cluster. Are these the sole property of the person that originally found this patch?
