i dont see how auweia was being uncivil, it wasnt till tahoe started flaming that there was any problem whatsoever. and the reason he went off was nothing of auweias fault(he stated truth and not gossip nor assault?), its only cause of tahoe's ego and some assumptions.
auweia did not break any rules. wasnt even offtopic as it was due to backing up information about this new species and features he observed.
i however see how my post was egging it on. none the less, i was only pointing out tahoe's rudeness.
i can see erasing all the posts to cause more drama than the situation itself though, and in this case tahoe is STILL being dramatic even after all this, and just subliminally called auweia childish.
given the circumstances, flaming, ego, and drama, i would say tahoe needs a short ban.

i would second the observation that the splitting caps seem to be caused bydifferential moisture. i have noticed several become 'flower split' like that after harvest and during drying.

I am agreeing, that that is at least one cause... But perhaps, as Auweia is noting, it is a phenotypic trait expressed regardless of environment...? I really cannot say until I have more experience with this species or sub-species or whateeeever.

there is only one sure way to find these shrooms
it takes long hours of looking around..I mean long long long hours....nay, it takes years, like 20 years of searching to find spots like that...sometimes you get lucky, many times you don't
sometimes, there's people like Tahoe who only want the location, and if you don't
viola
needless to actually say why people like me continue to find new patches (duh)
why we are able to keep those patches (no kidding)...no brainer

oh wait i get it. You are saying that i am a parasite to other peoples pacthes because i do not live in the bay area. So by default any mushrooms in the bay are rightfully owned by residents of the bay and anyone from outside that finds patches that have never been found before are parasitic to theses patches that are rightfully owned by residents of the bay area. ITs kind of like you have a claim on the whole area and no one is allowed to hunt there.
Tell me this, is that patch of cyans that I found in fairfeild part of your claim? Has anyone else found mushrooms there? Did I steal the patch from them?
How about the patch in mill valley that I told cc about becasue I hardly never get a chance to make it over to that side of the bay and would rather have someone I know pick it. Did I steal that one from someone else.
How about the two patches that i showed burton rebel, 1 in oakland and 1 in ggp. Did I steal these from people?
How about the fact that i have searched all of richmond and that i am sure that suimush has come across one of my heaviest producing patches. Am i accusing him that he stole it from me?
Stop with your parasite comments, we both know who they are directed to. Stop holding a grudge. If you didnt want me to try to id that species for you and send it to spreworks then you shouldnt have said it was okay. I would have respected that

SO i went out again this morning, found out that the patch of cyan's i found yesterday is much bigger then i thought. I also found another patch of cyan's with some really mature mushrooms, probably to old to eat. I can't wait for the rain, I've only been out two times this year and already found two patches. Thats two more then all of last years hunting.
I wanna thank all of you for helping me find these patches, with out your posts and pictures i don't think i would have been so successful.

man i had an AWESOME day today.
So i met up with a couple friends and we went and hit up emreyville berkley and didnt have much luck, we found one small cyan. Then Alan Rokefellor met up with us and we cruised out to oakland to look around. We were there for a few and we found some small friscosas then one of the people we were with says i think i saw a girl who looked like she was hunting too. And i laughed to myself and said "Hey maybe its CureCat" so we looked around a little more then i said that alan should call her to see if she was around, then my friend makes a joke and says, What if we call and hear the ring from the bushes on the other side. and we all laughed and i started to walk over to some other lanscaping beds and, Fucking No shit. As soon as i walk over there i hear a PHONE RING and holy shit CureCat was in the fucking bushes!!!! I figured id find some shrooms but shroomerites are cool too.
So after the WTF moment we continued searching and eventually found some nice clusters. we totaled like 385 wet grams so split up we all got a good bit.
then after it got dark we all cruised over to another friend of mine who went edible hunting today and had a dinner of wild edibles. Lions Mane, boletes, and honeys. MMMMM so good.
I unfortunatly forgot my camera today but Alan will post pics of the mushrooms and a couple pics of the dishes my friend made.
All in all it was a very mushroomy day!
happy Hunting guys!

Yes yes, very good to run into you! You know, if I'm not in front of a computer, there is a good chance i am in a pile of wood chips or a bush...
Those two clusters were NICE!!
I just got home- UGH! Fun day/night, but I'm beat! We tried some of them.
I'll post photos as soon as i have slept.
