well I'm not into that but if you have your dogs use a plastic grocery bag. It will look like you are just picking up poop.

Here in France it's very normal and allowed to go hunting, so I don't have to be that stealthy...

Generally, it's just me with a pocket-knife, sometimes some latex gloves, and I make a bag from wax paper by folding it in half and stapling the sides.
Sometimes I bring a box if a big haul has come about.
I live in Seattle. Should I be more cautious? I just go hunting. I don't even keep a look out for anyone.
I hunt all mushrooms - not just hallucinogenic ones. But, of course, my eye is aimed at the latter.

usually find mine in patches of grass. just sit down with a few texbooks in a circle around the patches and pretend to talk, and pretend to play with the grass. little do they know.

usualy i just bring my pack, a bag in the front left open, and my camera. i just take pictures and pick. i don't trip about it much anymore. sometimes people ask me what i'm doing, mostly they walk by, either not even looking or giving a quick funny look and passing by.

Lucky ass PNWerns. why so worried about being spotted, most of the places you guys pick are somewhat public. I slways have to jump a fence, and it looks a bit mor obvious since im in a cowfield looking at shit. Anyway, I have a mesh bag that works pretty well, I always cut my shrooms from the patties so as to not have any remaining fecal matter on the stem. aagain you lucky ass PNWerns not haveing to mess around with shit. Im sure cyans and azures are a much better trip than cubes and copes.

when i got to a park, and I am standing off the trail, crouched down looking at the ground, I'm sure its pretty obvious whats I'm doing, but a run in with the cops is not something i want to risk.

I pick and hunt at different times.
When I'm in hunting mode I'm not too cautious about what I'm doing, since I have nothing on me except a camera. The only thing I am cautious about is other pickers. They're are certain places where you can be guaranteed people are tuned in to what you're doing and if they see you hovering over one place too long, well you're now sharing that patch with them. But it goes both ways, I'll often see people not hiding what they're doing (mushroom pickers are easy to spot ) just walking from patch to patch and I get to log those for the next week with no effort.
When I'm picking, everything stays in the car or my ditched backpack except a bag in my pocket and scissors. I pile the cuttings up on the ground and they stay there until I'm done. If someone comes around, all I have to do is stand up, whip out the phone and have a conversation with myself until they leave. And if it's worse than that I just walk away knowing I have nothing on me and can always come back later. When the picking's done, I look around make sure no one is watching and then the bag comes out, mushrooms go in and I'm gone.

That sounds like a solid technique. I've employed the cell phone myself. In urban areas, people are used to others walking in circles and staring at the ground while chatting on their cellies.
