Hey guys, I'm thinking about ordering 40cm of San Pedro for $35. I was wondering, once extracted, how many doses should I get out of this? Also, what's the best extraction process. Thanks!

Okay, scrap the first question, all my questions have been answered.
But my new one is; If I was to do an extraction like this one. http://www.erowid.org/plants/cacti/cacti_preparation5.shtml How well will something like this keep? If I put it in a jar, in a cool, dark place how long should I be able to keep it for?

Hi there, I am in the process of doing an extraction right now so i thought it would be appropriate to tell you how I do it. First of all it's ok to take a large dose as long as your on your own. Mescaline is very gentle on the psyche. $35 seems pretty average depending on where you live. 40cm would be the minimum that i would consume personally. Today I'm using 22 inches. This is how I do it: chop it up into 4cm sections and chop around the stalk in the middle and discard the fibrous center. chop the remaining cactus up into 1cm cubes if your not using a blender, otherwise leave it the way it is. You can chuck it in the freezer if you like, some say it helps break down the cell walls. After 8 hours chuck it in the pot with equal amounts water (u can blend this mixture before hand) and add 3 lemons or limes. lightly simmer for 2 hours or so. let it cool then squeeze it through cheese cloth etc. if the remaining mess is bitter, boil it in more water for another 2 hours with 3 more lemons; and in the mean time simmer the liquid you just strained until its down to 1 cup and put aside. repeat the process with the second lot of mixture until you have 1 cup. combine the 2 cups of mucus juice and simmer down some more until you have a cup or so. Trust me the less you have to drink, the better. The first cup is not too difficult to get down, but any more than that is a serious chore. good luck and be aware that it lasts for ages, so make sure you have at least 36 hours of peace and quite to do it in.
By the way, the reason i don't use a blender, although useful in a quicker extraction, is that it seems to make the spirit of the cactus unhappy. Go with your inner voice when your preparing brews like this. Make it a momentous occasion.
Peace and light

Okay, I'll be doing this extraction within the next week. Does anyone know how long the extracted liquid lasts?

Sorry about all the questions... Once I get my San Pedro cutting, how long do I have until it starts to rot/go bad?

i find that it starts developing mold on the part where you cut it within 2 weeks if its humid. there's probably something u could do to prevent it, but i don't think it penetrates more than a few millimiters, so just cut the end off when you use it, or if u want to plant it, cut it and let another callous form (10 days or so) then plant it. Also ive heard that u should keep it in a dark place if its not in the soil.

I haven't found any in nurseries over here but it'd sold online in this country (auction sites as well as the 2 major enthoegen sites) a fair bit and also in several alternative shops at least in qld/northern nsw; however i havn't found any puruvian torch anywhere which sucks. peyote is sold online sometimes, although it's very expensive
