Just started my first quart sized pf-style jars. Sterilized by boiling in a pot for an hour and a few minutes. Growth has began these quart jars are filled to the brim with substrate so I'll see how it goes. I must say it's pretty sweet though

PJ is funky as! We here are experimenting - spawning a barrel of peroxidated wheat straw with a few litre jars of that Argentinian species from Mushroom Madness spawned on cornflour alone - working wonders - drop us a pm PJ

Update! 2 jars lost. 1 malaysian an 1 ecuador. 3 100% colonized quart jars(malaysian) were used to spawn about 40+ lbs of worm casings, steer manure/compost, alder shavings, peat maoss and verm combo Here's what I've learned from using pf style quart jars. Running at a 75% success rate exactly You cant get the cakes out of the jars They were wide mouth quart jars but the wouldn't come out... Had to use a fork to break em apart and dig em out doesn't really matter since they are crumbled in ziplock bags anyways so I'll keep everyone posted on how this goes... After i'm done this is done i'll move it to grow log forum all comments welcome...

I had no luck with worm castings - i remember Hongus warned me, but i had to try it... Staying with straw, millet and rye...Straw is my new favourite!!

why plain straw bluemeanie??? Why not use a mix of poo and straw? Better inmo. Worm castings I`ve been told are also not good for spawning. Better for your garden.
