Edibles: Possible Chanterelles?

I think I found some chanterelles today. They look like some photos I've seen and from the descriptions. It's my first time hunting chanterelles so let me know if I'm off with my ID. I hope I'm right so I can make some tasty food.

Habitat: Woods. Found near oak and pine trees. Most of them were found in a patch that was relatively big.
Gills: The gill color is mostly orange, the same color as the caps. The gills appear to be fake gills as shown in the photos.
Stem: Orange for the most part. Relatively solid feeling.
Cap: Orange for the most part, fading a little bit to yellow on some. On average, 2 inch caps, majority are trumpet shaped. Most are not uniform.
Spore print color: Hasn't come through yet.
Bruising: No color change was observed.
Location: Picked in North West Florida.

Almost definitely chantarelles. Try smelling them. Often there's a bit of a peppery smell to the raw ones. I have only found the orange ones, but those sure look good =D

Yeah, they do have a little bit of a peppery smell to them. They look yellowish in the picture, but they're definately orange, but the light in the kitchen and the camera made them appear more yellow for some reason.
The nice part about this patch was these were maybe half of what we saw out there. The rest seemed to be still growing and tiny button sized ones. It just rained this weekend so I'm going to give them another day or two to grow.

They were great. Me and the girlfriend sauteed them in olive oil, garlic, red wine, and some cracked pepper and put them over some noodles. They turned out great. I'm impressed by chanterelles and I'm definitely going to hunt them in the future.

Haha, possibly. I actually found this one on accident. It was found in a park on the edge of a ghetto, so no one really goes back there except to have sex.

chantarelles grow and mature slowly, so it is likely that two days will not be enough. just keep an eye on them.
some of those in your picture look a bit old for the best quality, so keep the texture of the young imature ones in mind. you should collect mostly those which are that firm and crisp. any that seem more soggy will not be as good, but luckily, they often retain that level of quality even when they get quite large.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
