found today in maine 300 ft from the ocean on a cut log. I'm in the process of taking a spore print now, cap tan-brown,gills white, temps from 40-74 and rained friday. I don't know what it smells like because I have a cold right now. this is my first request for an ID so let me know if more info is needed.

have someone smell them, oysters have a real particular smell to them, almost like real fresh flour.

no doubt, as they get older they tend to loose there deliciousness, bugs love oysters just as much as we do. Finding them in there prime is almost as big of a task as finding them in general.

Nice Oysters.
For storage, treat them as you would fresh produce from the grocery store (actually fresher than you ever get from the store). They should keep in your refrigerator for up to a week or so. Also, be sure to avoid plastic bags - they condense moisture and allow bacteria to thrive which can result in food poisoning.
Happy mushrooming!
