BRF LC

Just a question here. Would a BRF lc work? I know flour when mixed with water makes dough. But if I just put a minimal amount, will it dissolve and work as an LC? If anyone has tried this before, post your conclusion please. I searched and got little to no help.

why not just use dextrose (corn sugar)? or turbinado (sugar in the raw)? or karo (light corn syrup)? or honey?
is it really that hard to find one of these? you found no results for a reason, and I doubt you will.
why would you do that? what's so hard about finding one of the above?
...
?

This is an experiment. Chill out monstermitch. I know all of that already and I can find it. It's just an experiment. I usually just use Malt extract. Just curious as to how this is going to turn out.

MEA is not used to make LC ...

well okay then... I guess you know what you're doing. let us know of the results please. I doubt you'll find too many to go off of at first. Yours will probably be the standard now.

I mean't malt extract or potato dextrose. Sorry about that. It's just habit to call it MEA. or PDA.
Anyways, this is an experimental thread, so if you only have negative comments that have nothing to do with it then, Goodbye.
I'll update you guys and see what comes out of it. Like I said, if anyone else has tried it, post results please.

Ignore mitch. He's just a shit disturber.
A BRF LC could theoritically work, but the BRF would accumulate at the bottom and slow down growth. However, if you have a magnetic stirrer, then it might work.
Give it a shot and let us know if it worked.

That's what I was thinking. It has all the nutrients needed. If only there was an additive or something that could keep it from settling at the bottom.

I added coarsely ground brown rice to a honey LC with about 1/2 ounce diluted (less than 50% I'd say) coffee.
I notice no change in growth rate in a day, but it doesnt look dead, which is a plus.

I'm thinking about adding a bit of light corn syrup (Karo) with BRF mixed in.

i use BRF as an agar substitute, it works pretty damn well i'd say
but i dunno about an LC >.>
you would prolly be creating either a very cloudy mixture or a sediment heavy mixture
maybe if you cooked it just right before sterilizing..
kinda sounds like a lost cause since most of the flour will eventually settle at the bottom of the jar worse than honey >.>

Just leave a marble in there to stir it. Shake up it daily to break up clumps it works like stirring a spray paint can. It should work though it would just be harder to see through probably. That and it would probably be a little chunkier and yah it would settle at the bottom. I just don't thank it would be as affective. But that is why it's and experiment you never know until you try.

yeah don't be discouraged experimenting is most of the fun
you should try the agar substitute i can write you up a nice cloning tek with it the really good isolates colonize in 1/4" thick layers
i sliced up my first one the other day, i inoculated 9 rye jars each with a slab of an ecuador clone
they're doing well

Appreciate the help. I've cloned before. I know how that goes. I may try it with the additive.

It will make your LC overly murky and chunky...
And that is not a LC... a Liquid culture should be completely transparent from one side to the other so you can observe growth and any discoloration of the mycelium.

well if you insist on it, maybe you should make one solid cooked peice of brf that slowly dissolves in the water overtime to feed your mycellium
