I am not too sure about cleaning it, but baking it at 400 degrees F for one hour dries it out, I would bet this temp kills most bacteria if not all as well.

spray a peroxide/h2o mix on it and mix and spray and mix and spray and mix and spray....make sure youre nice and clean tho. maybe wear some gloves so you dont get dead skin particles and all kinds of unwanted junk in it

you will likely lose alot of your perlite from this, so i would suggest just getting some new
but what you need to do is, put it in a strainer and rinse it very well for about 20 mins, rubbing in some peroxide is optional
i'm not sure what temp to tell you to bake it at, but i do know that water will boil, hence evaporate, at 212degrees
so anything above 212degrees until it's dry
then reuse and add clean water

peroxide doesnt do really anything and is pointless to use for this "cleaning" bake, rinse, drain. simple as that.

Soak the perlite in a diluted bleach solution. 2 parts bleach to 8 parts water works.
Soak for 30 minutes, then rinse it out really well.

this is something more along the lines of what i was thinking. cause there is so much of it and i have a small oven i really didnt want to mess with baking it. have you tryed this yourself?

I used to PC the perlite a bag at a time. If your lazy or your cooker isn't that big you can always buy new. It's pretty cheap.
