Do you believe in Karma?

Karma is a very emotionally charged word for some, so let me rephrase that:
Do you believe that if you do good or bad that this will somehow come back to you in one way or another?
or in another way:
Do you believe that having an experience to one side of the spectrum makes it more likely for you to have an experience on the other side of the spectrum?
.

I believe in neverending reincarnation where you will live every possible life in every possible sequence. In this, the balance not just exists but it is absolute.
I'm convinced the balance exists, even though single lives can be terribly unbalanced.

I do, sort of. It's not some conformed thought process but my keen eye has shown me certain consistencies.
Not that it makes any sense.

I think its just natural progression as opposed to spiritual righteousness. Although I won't rule out there being a deeper existence.
By natural progression I mean (in basic terms) say someone robs their friend, chances are they will rob another friend and another thus eventually someone will realize/be so pissed that they will kick some serious ass. Equally they are likely to hang around with similar types (birds of a feather flock together) thus increasing the chances of being robbed their selves.

Not in the typical mystical sense, but I do believe that if you do good for someone, they will remember it and be more likely to do good for you in the future.

I still voted definately yes because the question on the poll is completely different to the question you asked in the post.
Of course there is a balance in all things, the universe is just a natural evolution of progression from chaos to order, emergent complexity and all that jazz.
Mystical Karma, no. Reciprocated altruism, yes

Yeah, I feel somewhat the same way. I think people want to believe in it so they attach a mystical quality where none exists. I believe it is more of a "reap what you sow" effect. You are a good person and treat people well they will return in kind. But I also believe many bad deeds go unpunished when people are not caught, and many good deeds go unrewarded when no one takes notice. There is no balance or fairness in things and often people do not get what they deserve.
Then again, I'm a highly cynical skeptic. It would be nice if the universe turns out to be different then what I believe, but I doubt it.

One of the few strong beleifs i have is in Karma. I also believe in reincarnation, similar to what you described. I came to beleive these things from my one ego death mushroom trip, and they have stuck with ever since.

And if you wrong someone, they will also remember. However, if you wrong someone and get hit by a car the day after, the two are not related. Just as if you do good for someone and win the lottery the day after they are not related. Therefore I don't believe in karma, just human nature.

That depends on who's behind the wheel
But no it really depends on what you relate with what. Things that happen to you are related because they happen to you. I believe all things are related in the bigger picture. The butterfly effect and such.
To say some things are related and others aren't is arbitrary because we can only look a few levels deep.

I wish there were such a thing as karma, but unfortunately that's not the way the world works, as anyone with any significant life experience will confirm.
I however do believe in being respectful and nice to others and I try (oh, how I try) to treat other people how I would have them treat me. Not because I believe in Jesus Christ as my savior or because I'm afraid of karma, but because it just MAKES SENSE.

Without reincarnation or some form of afterlife it is very clear that there can be no justice. Some are born in wealth and others in poverty, and some have no chance to change that.
Pending the hard facts about life and death, anyone's firmest belief is but an assumption.

i picked other because i didn't understand the use of the word balance as it relates to karma.
i think karma is defintely real but i would say it acts instantly. although you do get other life karma, the instant one if the only one you should be worried about. or at least its the one i'm worried about.

I don't believe so much in "karma" as in some overriding force governing people and making sure they get their dues, but more so in projection, if you put good out your more likely to receive good because you put it out.

I think that some kind of awareness is there after we die, but I don't think we personally suffer for the karma that we make in this lifetime. I mean, we are suffering from the karma of our ancestors and they are of the same essence so I think of it as that kind of deal.

i have to say i like the idea. and when i am good good things happen, but also when i am bad good things happen, i answered probably yes because i have yet to be punished by "karma" for my sins.
i fear the day.
