I gave a friend a half pound of cyanescens I had left over from last season. He promptly sold them for 700$. When I heard about his sale I was a little upset. It is not about the money. I have always maintained that mushrooms that are found should be shared, and given away free of charge. What do you think?

Totally agreed. That's part of the reason I don't give me than a personal dose's worth, and only to someone as devoted to learning from mushrooms as me - not someone interested in peddling or "getting fucked up". Mushrooms can be an amazing tool, and some people just aren't meant for them.

I think I would've sat on 'em and used them up gradually, with the exception of giving some to other friends. Him selling them off like that as your friend does kind of violate the spirit of the gift, I'd be upset but I don't think I'd break off a good friendship (if that's what it is) over it.

Isn't an indian giver someone that gives something to you, then asks for it back? His friend didn't give him anything, he gave something to his friend. Who then went and made killer profit

I had previously given him a QP, and I know for a fact those were shared. I spoke with my friend, he is unemployed currently and hard up for money. I will write it off as charity. It is better to give and forgive. Again, I reiterate, the situation was simply a matter of principle.

It's understandable if he needed the money, otherwise I would have expected him to return the favor and hand over 1/2 of the cash. If he spent the money on weed I hope you're getting smoked up nicely.

That just seems so messed up.
He should have at least told you first. If someone gives you mushrooms, you generally expect them to use them, or share them, not make money off you.
I believe in giving, asking nothing in return, but you're right it is a matter of principle. I would have given them liberally to others, and sat on them and used them as time went on.
If he really needed the money though, I understand. But I would have just given him the money If I had it, and kept the mushrooms.
But you say that you gave him half a pound DRY? That's over 2,000 dollars street value.

That's pretty bad. So he didn't let you have any idea what he was going to do with them? Does he have any idea how you feel about it?
