I have been a a fan of the band Phish for a long time, but i had never seen their DVD Bittersweet Motel untill tonight.
I gotta say it was excellent, you got to see so many aspects of the band which people have never glimpsed before. Trey had me in stitches throughout the film and it was really cool to see the personality of all the band members. It gives you a great idea of what Phish is really like on a day to day basis, behind the stage.
The music in Bittersweet Motel is filled with great examples of some of the best phish tunes out there.
The footage from the great went is awesome, for people who have never been to a music festival this gives you a good idea what its like. The energy at a music festival is unrivaled; thousands of people who don't have a care in the world, just there for the music and a good time.
There was a lot less actual musical performances in Bittersweet Motel than IT, and i held off on watching it sooner because of that fact. Having seen it i feel foolish for not checking it out earlier, anyone who's remotely interested in Phish should check this film out

Chivas is a nice scotch. I poured myself a glass after my bar shift tonight. Bittersweet Motel is a great disc, I saw it once a few years ago but I don't own it. I do own IT and I like the amount of music on there, but I dislike the fact that they cut to interviews during the best parts of some of the jams. Disc II should have been each song in its entirety, or at least the gems from that concert, especially YEM. I'm still pissed that they don't show all of YEM cuz I have that audio on my PC and its just absolutely unbelievably great. Phish rocked.

The Ghost is beyond astral. But I'm not that mad about it, only because the sickest parts of the jam are shown in full and not rudely interrupted. I have all of IT as FLAC files on my PC. The Ghost is really long and by far the best part of the ghost jam is the part they feature in the IT dvd. In fact, the Ghost segment is my favorite part of the dvd.

yea it does, it shows a lot of interesting/funny bits.
i really liked seeing trey barter with the people in the weapon's shop too, and afterwards when it shows him going out into the street and trying out the whip ha that transitioning into wilson is perfect.

ah i also love the water in the sky sound check, it flows real well. the great went footage does give you a great idea of what a big festival is like, and the type of crowd it draws.
the tools they interview in the tent are pretty amusing. one trying to act like he knows shit about marijuana in his bah-ston accent while the other keeps mentioning chicks who show up in different type cars haha. i like trey dealing with the crazy chick who thinks they chilled back at some venue (she is SO fine though), he's like "alright you're gonna tell me your thing and then im gonna drive away" lol.
