Here's my truth.
    #7540537 - 10/20/07 07:33 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

I don't know anything for sure. If you know me you hear me say this often here. The truth is that I'm confused really as to the nature of life and myself. I don't really know who or what I am.

Sometimes I hate it, I really, really hate not knowing. It's so painful for me. I want to know exactly what is going on here. But the truth as far as I know is I can't , and I can't turn my back on this.

My honesty about my confusion is the only truth I really know. I have come by this truth with a lifelong struggle and paid dearly and I can't sell it for a comfortable lie. It wouldn't work anyway, I know this, it's just how I am now. If it would work I would sell out; but I can't.

I love this! :mushroom2:
It feels to me that it takes all the time to become honest and this realization occurred only after I grown tired of lying to myself... or when I become aware that I was feeding on thoughts that were not mine. Because there are just so many thoughts that I've never payed attention to and then something happens which makes me realize: this is bull shit too! But I find it quite funny most of the times because it's a great feeling of relief.
Other times I get scared but I instantly realize that there's no turning back, so I might as well just enjoy it. :sun:

often I've so wished I could go back to not thinking about/questioning everything and just live the 9-5 life without ever thinking twice, but I know that it would not be possible without much more frustration than I feel on the path of questioning

Icelander, I guess just keep paying attention. Life is really confusing to me too. What I have concluded this far is that what needs revision is how we know or percieve things, because if we look in the wrong way we will see nothing. I think whatever you need to know is in a way unknowable, it's just being. Until we are not looking for it, but looking as it, or hell just being and not even looking anymore, the truth will not be clear.

Of course, then there is what to do in human life and I don't think I will ever know.

Absolute Truth is paradoxical in nature, it is beyond rational comprehension.

A healthy sense of humor about Life and Self yeilds maximum enjoyment of existence.

Everything is constantly changing so be involved yet unattached, and hopeful, yet without any expectations.

Isent that ultimate confusion? an awarness with no boundaries we can define, existing as some kind of defined individual? If you think about it too much you lose your mind and if you dont think about it at all you also lose your mind, i am unable to find balance with this at the moment.

On the comedown of a recent 7g 'shroom trip, I came to the realization that I wanted to know everything. Soon after, I came to the realization that that was impossible. It seemed to me pretty pointless to continue living for a dream that would never come true.

"I usually congratulate people when they tell me, 'I don't know who I am anymore.' Then they look perplexed and ask, 'Are you saying it is a good thing to be confused?' I ask them to investigate. What does it mean to be confused? 'I don't know' is not confusion. Confusion is: 'I don't know, but I should know' or 'I don't know, but I need to know.' Is it possible to let go of the belief that you should or need to know who you are? In other words, can you cease looking to conceptual definitions to give you a sense of self? Can you cease looking to thought for an identity? When you let go of the belief that you should or need to know who you are, what happens to confusion? Suddenly it is gone. When you fully accept that you don't know, you actually enter a state of peace and clarity that is closer to who who you truly are than thought could ever be. Defining yourself through thought is limiting yourself."

i think the strongest realization people can make is that nothing is constant and everything is impossible to rationalize....throughout history people have found 'happiness' by supposedly explaining the unexplainable...i believe the main proponent of this is organized religion

are you religious?

:hands Icelander the DMT pipe:

Honestly, that's a pretty commendable position to take. A lot of us might be selling ourselves short by believing that we do know.

We're all here, we're all roaming around this strange domain having the similar feelings, thinking similar thoughts, and trying to progress in one way or another. What we believe doesn't really matter, because it's not going to change any of that - unless it is.

If awareness isen't thought, what is it? Maybe thought is the awareness expressing itself, and like a work of art thought and awareness would be intimately connected so as to become almost identical. So like a work of art, to its creator it is a perfect expression of self, but to someone else viewing it, it may appear a pale reflection.

Thanks for that Icelander. I'm sure most of us can relate to that at different times in our lives. Many times I also question myself about the value of the "finding out". I also like this little joke:

The Lone Ranger and Tonto went camping in the
desert.
After they got their tent all set up, both men fell
sound asleep.

Some hours later, Tonto wakes the Lone Ranger and
says, "Kemo Sabe, look towards sky; what you see?"

The Lone Ranger replies, "I see millions of stars."

"What that tell you?" asked Tonto.

The Lone Ranger ponders for a minute then says,
"Astronomically speaking, it tells me there are
millions of galaxies. Time wise, it appears to be
approximately a quarter past three in the morning.
Theologically, the Lord is all powerful and we are
small and insignificant. Meteorologically, it seems we
will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell
you, Tonto?"

"You dumber than buffalo shit. Someone stole tent."

Sometimes the looking / analyzing takes away from the obvious.
