Making a budget

Lately I keep making different versions of the same budget. I've become enthralled with organizing the way I spend my money so that I always make sure I have enough to spend and to save.
Any budget making tips out there? I get paid weekly and anywhere from 370 - 400 if I work a bit of overtime, so I divide my monthly bills into weekly quadrants. I'm about to do another budget tonight. I get some sort of pleasure out of doing this! Anyone else?

I HATE budgeting. I'm so bad at it. I don't know why I am bad at it, I just can't stick to the plan.
I'm a server, so this is my incredible financial plan: All my paycheques go into the bank to pay bills with. All my tips are for my day-to-day stuff. Gas, coffee, clothes... and EVERY SINGLE DAY I put all my toonies and loonies into a piggy bank. That's my savings. In 2006, my piggy bank had over $800 in it! Then a bunch of bad shit went down and I had to use it all up. Thank god for savings.

Well, because I plan for different approaches in life. Like this is my budget if I did this, and this is my budget if I did that.
Cherrybom, while I like making budgets, I have not done too well at following through with them yet, probably because my checks take days and days to clear at the bank and it throws the entire thing off (direct deposit is supposed to be kicking in this week, thank goodness.)

Like last night, I got drunk and decided to some internet shopping. Not a great idea when you're judgement is highly impaired and you have to strictly watch your back account because even though you have over 600 dollars worth of money, you can't touch most of it for 5-7 business days...
So I impulsively bought a bunch of stuff, forgot about it, got up this morning and went to an ATM and realized, Oh shit! Stupid...so I've been tracking down what I bought last night and canceled my orders. I couldn't get ahold of this one company though...and if they don't cancel my order quickly, I may be in fee-trouble with the bank.
Yeah...since I'm so good at making budgets, now I just need to get good at sticking with them.

That was my exact plan whenever I worked a tip industry job. Minus the funny names for money.

I hate budgets, I recieved a pay increase a few months ago and a fancy company credit card. It has caused me nothing but head aches and heart aches, I decided it was my ticket to spend like an asshole for a month and I'll pay for it untill the new year most likely.

it combines the pleasure of spending with benefits of saving. it even protects savings from being devalued by inflation!

Do you not cook yourself?
I can easily get by on 30-40 dollars a week for food if I dont eat out.
100 dollars would let me eat like a king.

If you put away $200 a month you should be able to afford a down payment on a mortgage in 5 years.
Put away half of every raise into savings.

I take usually $150 out of my check every week just to spend on whatever. Everything else goes into the bank.
A budget is pretty important for me, I work 50-60 hours in the summer and 20-30 hours in the winter so if I don't stockpile during summer I don't have any $ for winter.
