Possible casing contamination
    #7539392 - 10/20/07 01:49 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Here are two photos of a casing of mine that I'm a little bit concerned about. I know cobweb mold is commonly confused for normal mycelial growth but something about this looks fishy. I've attached two photos showing two of the problem areas on this casing.

The casing is a 50/50+ mix of peat/verm and 10% gypsum (no h.lime, so pH could be an issue here). The substrate is poo/straw/coir, strain is Golden Teacher. This tray has fruited one flush and the growth you see hear has occurred since I dunked the dray for several hours with normal tap water.

You can see that that the (mycelium or contamination) has grown OVER a number of the pins. I've never seen that before...

If there's any other information that might be helpful, let me know and I'll try and provide it. Thanks!

That's strange. I see what your saying about the possibility of cobweb mold. A light misting of hydrogen peroxide will solve that problem, but the stuff on the pins is something else altogether. The way it's growing resembles bacterial infection, not mold. I'm interested. Do the H2o2 misting and then take pictures again. Lets compare and contrast. Try and get the same angle and close up before and after the misting.
