Habitat: Neat grass near pine woodchips

Gills: The gills are light grey to brown (bad with colors). They appear to have been attached at one time but have broken away on handling.

Stem: Whitish, stiff, hollow, remnants of a veil.

Cap: Brown dark brown, roughly as big around a dime. Young specimens flat, older specimens becoming wavy, curling up very high when near rotting, slight umbo. Caps had the characteristic slimy film (whats the technical name?) that was easily peeled off.

Spore print color: In progress, but previous specimens picked in the same spot printed purple.(still doing a print with these to make sure they are the same)

Bruising: slow faint bluing, pronounced bluing noticed in crushed pin, further bluing on drying.

Location: PNW, Portland, OR

Hopefully I will be able to add a picture this afternoon, I am waiting on a camera from a friend. I am quite confident this is some sort of psilocybe but I can't imagine what it could be. They look a lot like these pictures.

The first ones I found were already nearly rotten and looked quite a bit like the ones in the second picture. The ones I currently have look more like the ones in the first picture. They seem a bit runty compared to most of the pics I have seen of stuntzii. Considering their slow bruising and sparse growth I suspect the substrate is really bad (grass outside a jack in the box).

Well, after getting home and comparing the above mushrooms to the ones picked from the same spot yesterday I am even more confused than before. The ones picked today seem simply to small to be the same species as the ones picked yesterday. Yet strangely both have almost overwhelming psilocybe characteristics. The ones described above have an easily separated sticky/slimy pellicle and appear to blue (hard to tell as they are small and were already beaten up). The ones picked yesterday are larger lighter colored and blue readily. Unfortunately there are no fresh specimens to pick. Hopefully some torrential rain we had today will bring up some new fruits. I will be updating asap.

Well I finally got some terrible pictures.

I don't know if these will clear up anything but after viewing these pictures of known stuntziis,

I am sure that what I have are indeed stuntziis. The pictures I added of mine are very young specimens and consequently look a bit strange and have yet to flatten. Tomorrow I will go collect 2 day growths to confirm.

Well last night 2 dry ones were eaten and trails noticed. So today I went back to the patch and got 4 medium sized ones. On my way home I got a burrito and mixed them in. These are indeed active and strong as well. 4 medium sized mushrooms fresh has given me quite a visual show. Strong trails and the some patterning. Mild CEVS as well. I am very confident that these are stuntziis due to the prominent ring that blues easily. I will try to get a good picture up one of these days to get a 100% ID

I'm glad you were knowledgable enough to print them before consuming. Nice find. I love finding ringers. later.
