Cyans in the Salad Spinner

I like to put my cyans in a salad spinner after washing them off. I put the water that accumulates at the bottom in clean 2 litre bottles. I save this mushroom water until spring and dump it on wood chip areas.
I don't know if I am really doing anything...but I'd like to think that maybe some of the mushroom juice survives. The water is so purple with spores I don't see why it wouldn't.

any spores or hyphae which make thier way into that water under unsterile conditions would probably stand a better chance if introduced during season, before they have stewed in that water with all the present microbes overwinter

Well I don't think sterility matters as much outside.
And the reason to save it till spring is to prevent the spores from being washed away during the winter snow and rain.
I guess I should experiment and see if waiting helps at all.
CANID: thanks for making me think! kinda slow today...

the spores won't be washed away, they'll germinate. they'll also get a head start, as they will have that much more time to begin colonization.
sterility is a concern while the water is sitting around because there are many bacteria that attack and eat mushroom spores. they could destroy the viability of anything in the water.

Canid is right on. I very much support the suggestion to dump the water asap.

Cool,
How exactly do you wash them? Do they get pretty damaged in the spinner? recycling the spores is an excellent idea.

I wash them in a bowl of water, rubbing the spores off the caps. Set aside that water.
Put them in a salad spinner - they hold up well - add salad spinner water to water from first step.
