Do not take that Lithium... I am pretty sure it has no recreational value at all, and based on what i've read it sounds like some very nasty stuff. Also assuming the pills come in different dosages, you don't even sound like you know how much you'd be taking. Very bad idea.

Lithium is definitely not something to be taken lightly. There is no recreational value to them, and you pretty much only have something (a lot) to lose by taking them.

Lithium is not an antidepressant, it's a bi-polar medication with some dangerous side effects. Even people taking the recommended dosage must have liver function tests done often to make sure they're not damaging themselves. DON'T PLAY AROUND WITH IT, IT'S NOT GOING TO GET YOU HIGH AND COULD KILL YOU.

kill you, or just make you a crazed vegetable for the rest of your life. lithium was used as antidepressants and such, and i believe there was major problems with it staying in the system and causing pregnant women to give birth to psychologically unstable children (lithium children)
meh, that shits just nasty. not to mention it sounds like a heavy metal. try kava instead :S

If every human being had 0.1-1mg of Lithium in their diet the world would be a better place.
I'm strongly in favor of switching the potassium iodide in iodized salt to lithium iodide, to aside from iodine also supplement lithium in the same move.
Lithium as a trace mineral is very beneficial, as a high dose drug it is fraught with risks.
If you dissolve one tablet of your lithium in a liter bottle of port or sherry and each day take one teaspoon of that, you are doing yourself a favor.

oh? interesting, Wiccan_Seeker. are there references to that? what are we talkign about here? physically or mentally or what? sounds kinda like homeopathy though, where you take trace amounts of a poison to get a 'beneficial result'.

Lithium has been associated with positive effects in the general population at low levels in drinking water. Positive mood, decreased suicides, decreased mortality. But it doesn't take much, maybe 5mg a day. The psychiatric medicine is probably a couple hundred milligrams or so.
Also increases the effect of hallucinogens. Not sure if it's an MAOi or if it just acts like one.

My mom has to take Lithium for her bi-polar disorder and those pills scare me! Please stay away from them.
As Wiccan said, they can be very helpful, and they do help my mom, but there are lots of negative side effects, and they won't get you high at all. In fact, you sometimes have to take those pills for weeks before positive effects are noted, at least that's what the doctor said. I say, its not worth risking. Not even a little bit.

Lot of myths about lithium carbonate - it is used for bipolar and also for unipolar depression/mania - I take it 300 mgs a day with mirtazapine for depression and it's great. It just smooths out the nervous system and feels good. Manics hate it because it attenuates their mania, and their mania feels like a speed high, so yeah, well met. And manics are the most opinionated and prolific writers on the subject.
But lithium can kill you easily. The overdose is not much beyond the actual dose and depends on kidney function.
It doesn't feel like anything. There is no high to it. But if you have depression it somehow makes one feel less encumbered by it. Manics say that lower doses than usually prescribed allow them to feel better but that the usually prescribed tend to make them feel 'flat.'
