I set this up around ten years ago just added the small sundews a few months ago.Its going to look sweet when the sundews get bigger. When setting up a tank like this you just have to pick plants that dont go dormant. The sweet thing is i just water it once a year

Oh my that looks marvelous! I've wanted to do carnivorous plants for a while and that setup looks so perfect. I'd really like it if you could explain what's going on in there. It looks like a few inches of potting soil, pitcher plants, sundews, and grass? What kind of grass is it? How would you only water once a year? I want to know I want to know! I really like sundews...some of the variations of sundew out there are so pretty.

I put a inch of charcoal then potting soil then long strand sphagnum moss its in a ten gal tank i had a piece of glass cut to totally cover the top.Thats why i dont need to add water more than once a year. The trick when you set it up is to get the water just right not too little not too much Pretty simple. The sphagnum moss was dead but it is full of spores so given time and water the spores start it growing again. What you call grass in the front is a diff moss that just showed up on its own.I have even had a mushroom or two just fruit.I think spores came in on the moss or potting soil.I think all people that likes plants should give a tank a try.The light is on a timer.Zero work after its set up.Poboy
