Growing outdoor cyans

So i made my first attempt at constructing an outdoor cyanessence patch, i went to the forest area by my house and dug a 4x4 hole and filled it with mycelium and baby cyan pins and alder chips. I put a few cyans standing up in the chips, do you guys think the mycelium will attatch itself to the chips and continue growing? also i was wondering if its better to use newer or older wood chips. and if theres anything else i should know about growing these guys, i would greatly appretiate the advice

Thats irrational Actually that part of your cultivation effort amounted to imitative magic, such as shamans throwing water about in a rain dance.
The proper way to do it is to take 5 parts woodchips and mix them with 1 part chips overgrown with mycelium.
If your woodchips weren't freshly shredded, but were dry wood chips, then you should have soaked the chips first. If you didn't, do it now.
If you have mixed mycelium through the wood chips, things will probably turn out alright.
Cyans colonizing a bed of wood chips is like hollywood zombies overtaking a town: theres just no stopping them as they take over every chip they come in contact with, mold or no mold.
Planting upright Cyans is a nice touch though!
What you can do to greatly enhance colonization is take a couple of Cyan mushrooms, adding water, and running them through the blender to form a smoothie, as in my Woodlover Smoothie TEK and then watering the patch evenly with this thin sludge.
You can also create additional beds with that and I strongly suggest you do that. More beds, better chances.
The ideal dimensions for a Cyans bed in my view is 20cm (8inches) wide and deep, and this stretched as long as you want. The deepest 2 inches will act as a safeguard for extra cold winters, and as a spawn reserve.
