flexwatt incubator...pics this time

I finally got a pic of my flexwatt incubator. This stuff is great. It is flat as paper...you can see I just taped it up to the back of the cabinet. No tubs,no water....Just one empty shelf in a cabinet and a socket and I am in business. As you can see, it works well. The cakes are 6 days old, and the jars were knocked up today.
Thanks for looking.

Looks like it says 81.9 degrees. Looks good to me! Good luck!

I really dont think incubating is necesary unless your jars have to be stored in a really cold part of your house.
Thankfully my water heater is in a cupboard with shelfs, so jars just go in there, keeps it between 78-81F has worked perfect everytime.

Believe me, I would much rather stick my jars in a random place in my house and forget about them. But it is getting cold now and it would cost me about 350-400 dollars a month to keep my house 78-82 degrees through the winter. Mommy and daddy don't pay my bills.
I have a VERY small closet in my house which contains my water heater and the temps are right, but it is not convenient to store jars in such a tight space.
Some people just have o incubate through the winter...I am one of them.
Thanks for the comments.

If the temps are 70-75 in your house then you will be just fine. I dont incubate either. I have done them side by side and the ones that were not incubated always out performed the incubated ones. Not sure why. Since then I have always let my jars colonize at room temp. and they get about 8 hours of light a day. Dosent hurt them either.

this would be what i did if i had that setup, unfortunately, my whole house is below 72*F so i have to use an incubator.

Incubating isn't a problem for me. I really don't mind when it is as easy as I hve made it.
My climate isn't really that cold....I live in the DEEP south. I just have a drafty house and natural gas is hella expensive. I have seen my heating bill climb to over 250 in January when heating to over 72 degrees...blows huh?
I keep space heaters in the bedrooms and the living room.

how did you hook up the flexwatt to a thermostat? I am not well versed in electrical work.

There are two wires coming out of the thermostat with raw ends. There are two wires running side by side on the power cord of the flexwatt...think of a lamp cord. Just snip one of the wires of the power cord, cut the insulation off/back, and splice in the raw leads of the thermostat. Wire nuts are included. You can splice either wire to either wire...it doesn't matter as long as you only snip ONE of the leads on the power cord. Very easy...besides, if you order the flexwatt and therm from beanfarm.com, they send a step by step wiring diagram and instruction sheet with your package. Very easy.
Good luck!
