Multi-Track Recording Software

What does everyone here use for multi-track recording software? I'm used to Cool Edit, but I have had some problems with recording tracks to previously recorded tracks, with the timing being in sync and everything... although I think this might have been a limitation of my RAM (512 mb right now, definitely going to upgrade that signifantly). Hard drive space or processing isn't an issue...
Anyways, I'm not looking for anything that would require new hardware, at the moment at least (I foresee myself creating my own small studio in the future perhaps ), but I need something capable of making sure I can get lots of tracks recorded together with some great sound quality and perfect timing.
So what does everyone use?

Right now I'm using a Korg Radias + Roland V-Synth XT > MOTU 828mkII > Powermac > Digital Performer 5 > Tannoy Reveal Monitors.
DP 5 is more powerful than Cubase, faster to navigate than Logic and cheaper than Pro Tools.

I've defiently heard tons of great things about Pro Tools but i've nver eactually used it myself. I am currently using Cakewalk's Sonar 6 which is pretty good if you've got an ASIO supporting soundcard. But I'm not saying this is the best choice, I really dont have much of a choice as most other programs do not support Vista properly or at all.

Digital Performer. It's made by a company called Mark Of The Unicorn, fer christ's sake. Similar to ProTools but doesn't require proprietary hardware. Great for anything I want to do in audio, pretty much. I'll often use Peak Pro for recording or soundshaping, but I don't think it multitracks.
