After soaking rye seed for 24 hours, what is the best amount of water to add to the rye seed (while still wet) when placed in the jars? (i am putting approx 250ml [1 cup] of rye seed in each jar.) So far ive tried 180ml of h20 and 150ml of h20 and both resulted in too much water after PCing.
Please help me, thanks.

Uh, after soaking you don't add any water to your grains. You put them on a low simmer until the first kernals open, drain them thoroughly, and then load them in your jars. You shouldn't be adding any water at all before pressure cooking.

If you've already soaked your grains I'd suggest you just simmer them rather then mess around with the water content, if you add to much water they will explode, add to little and they'll be to dry.... Stick with the simmer this time if you want to be safe but if you think you know the proper amount of water to add give it a go.

Yeah, i always soak for around 16 hrs then do a simmer for about 30 minutes until, like mentioned above, the first kernals begin split open. I usually wait a bit longer until i figure about 5% of the kernals are exploded. it ends up being around 30 min.

Yah that was my first mistake was I always thought you had to cook them with a certain amount of water and fucked up several jars that way. But yah I did that too. I never let them soaked but that would definately help keep the exploded kernals down. After they simmer just strain them out and they will have the perfect amount of water.
