Life Energy

A poster mentioned in my 'Law of Conservation of Energy' thread that energy as defined by physics did not apply to 'life energy'.
The only definition I have heard for chi or qi or prana is a circular one. Life energy is that which gives and sustains life.
As far as I can tell, biochemistry does not require an X factor to explain cellular metabolism. Nor can life energy be measured.
All attempts to demonstrate qi are adequately explained by biomechanics. There are no professional MMA fighters who are not highly trained and conditioned athletes.

If I'm not mistaken I remember awhile back, you made a post about what is actually defined as life. Science is always making new discovery's about extremely small forms of life, and even matter that behaves like it is alive, but technically is not life.
So what is the clear cut definition of life, according to you?

There is no clear-cut definition, and discoveries are constantly driving that point home.

if life energy is that which gives and sustains life, I don't think MMA fighters or scientists could use it.
more like it is a dimension or attribute of the universe. It's like trying to use colour - it can enrich something or give it liveliness but you can't really USE the colours. I mean, we have crayons and the like, but we can't use the colour blue for anything else than colouring. we can't USE life for anything other than living.
also just like colour takes on many expressions, so does life. it's all in how you use the colours - the crayons.. and don't worry about colouring within the lines or colouring outside the lines. i say colour outside the lines! colour right off the page! we're not landlocked, i'll tell you that. we're in motion with the ocean.

It doesn't require an X factor to explain cellular metabolism, most certainly. So, how exactly does that negate the concept of "life energy"? Sounds like a scientific explanation to me...
The path that energy takes, from the sun to us, is very inspirational and awe-inspiring.
