I'll be rooting for Silva, Vera, Okami, and Black. I don't care too much about anything else. This event is going to require copious amounts of alcohol. And interestingly enough I expect this card to be like fucking while trashed. A sloppy beginning to try and get into the mood which is more boring and lame than anything else with a quick and disappointing finish that is overwhelming satisfying.

Not the greatest card, but I am really excited about the main event. I like watching franklin fight, as well as silva. I think franklin will take it though this time and stay out of that lanky fucker's clinch

Damn Silva put on an ass whoopin' but still unfortunately couldn't save the shitfest that was this ppv. Oddly enough though, I felt great while watching this ppv. Much better than the last few UFcs even though it wasn't very good.

I can't think of any middleweights that can beat him unless Henderson is planning on making the drop.

Which hopefully he does because that division sucks.

For now it appears that way.

Silva's definitely improved alot because he's succeeded against stylistical mismatches, which is the ultimate sign of a fighter's improvement.

I see Henderson bringing the fight to him better than Franklin could.

But if i had to pick one middleweight to put all my money on against silva, it would be Paulo Filho.

Except Filho is going to be the WEC champ for a while probably.

I see Henderson being able to beat Silva with strong body control and you know he won't crumble under those punches or knees the way Franklin or Marquart did.

I'm all for that.

I just find it amusing that 6 months ago, everyone was saying how Boxing was so fucked up beyond redemption and that MMA was the next wave of the future...

Now, MMA seems just as fucked up as boxing.

Well, maybe not THAT bad. But its certainly getting there...

which is why pride used to be so awsome...

the tournaments and stacked fight cards, it was seriously good for the sport....

the fight cards that the UFC has put out have NOT at all shownany improvement since the acquisition.

they still hold events like they're the struggling organization from back in the ufc 30's.

filho wouldnt beat silva.. all filho has is a sick ground game. did u see filho vs doerkson?? fucking doerkson schooled filho until paulo caught him with a haymaker. then filho just put his head down and swung for the fences. his takedowns were stuffed... paulo has some work before he is going to beat the likes of anderson.

the only decent competition is hendo. just because hendo has and insane chin and a great greco clinch. plus hendo has takedowns....i think hendo has a chance, but even he would be far from a lock against anderson.

silva has molded himself into such a complete fighter. viscous chute boxe muay thai but unlike the rest of them, silva has western boxing, nog endorsed bjj skills and fairly impressive wrestling.

The silva vs franklin fight was good. Silva is just too much for franklin but rich did a lot more than he did last time, so he improved.

Its funny how sad the giant gets when he gets boo'd. Its like 10,000 of his dad beating him up with each boo. maybe if he threw a punch he'd be more fun to watch???

Filho could beat silva but they have stated numerous times that they will not fight each other. He was pretty sick when fighting Doerkson and despite that he still KO'd him in the 1st round. Schooled? You gotta be fucking kidding me. Are you one of those idiots who think that Nog looked bad against Herring?

Silva does not have good wrestling. He uses bjj and intelligent use of his long limbs to force transitions. It's shame that UFC's MW is so bad although it is good for the UFC since they desperately need another lasting, impressive champion. Hendo, Filho, Kang, Misaki, Manhoef, Akiyama, Dong Sik, etc would all be great fights that Anderson has a good chance at losing. Hopefully if Hendo continues to refuse to move down we will see a rematch with Okami next.

It would also be good if Anderson lost because then I might get to train with him again. After he lost to Okami he visited the boxing gym I used to train at in Miami and I met him and trained with him a little. It also annoys that Anderson is given god-like status now, I loathe bandwagon fans. It is hilarious though how everyone had written Anderson off while he was in CR and now 18 months later he's a god. Same shit with rampage. Ugh, I hate most mma fans.

It wasn't a "loss" to Okami

He was disqualified for kneeing to the head on the ground.

filho wouldnt beat silva.. all filho has is a sick ground game. did u see filho vs doerkson?? fucking doerkson schooled filho until paulo caught him with a haymaker. then filho just put his head down and swung for the fences. his takedowns were stuffed... paulo has some work before he is going to beat the likes of anderson.

the only decent competition is hendo. just because hendo has and insane chin and a great greco clinch. plus hendo has takedowns....i think hendo has a chance, but even he would be far from a lock against anderson.

silva has molded himself into such a complete fighter. viscous chute boxe muay thai but unlike the rest of them, silva has western boxing, nog endorsed bjj skills and fairly impressive wrestling.

to Doerkson's credit, he has a pretty solid wrestling background.

I give Filho the best shot because he's the least willing to stand with Silva. Hendo, a good fight that would be, I could see Dan outworking Silva with his aggression.

But Filho has more than just wrestling, he's got the judo type expertise to counter alot of Anderson's BJJ-style approaches to stuffing the takedown. Example? Silva's sprawl is used only when he's already created the distance, while Franklin, really isn't that good of a takedown practitioner himself. When silva deals with someone better adept the getting takedowns in the clinch, aka, against a judo-type grappler, it becomes harder to avoid the Takedown.

Like when everyone said Fedor couldn't handle Cro-cop's "amazing sprawl" he just used his judo to get the takedowns, pretty easily.

Paulo has the stylistic edge over silva. What does this mean? It means he has a slight edge in technique that puts his ground-fighting approach in an advantage of silva's "keep it on the feet". That advantage, is his judo.

i think in this fight, one of two things could happen. Silva will KO filho with successfull Takedown defense, or filho will find a way to take it to the ground, and pass his gaurd (albeit, probably not submit him)

Oh yeah, and Denis Kang!!!!!! He'd be another awsome matchup but i think his willingness to stand would be his bane against silva.

It was an upkick... and a DQ is a loss.

it's a "loss" but it's not really a loss

he was pretty much the favorite in that fight, and showing it.

point is, as i thought you were saying, a loss would motivate the fighter? possibly?

i dunno, i misread what you were initially saying so i thought you assumed the loss was a REAL loss.

my bad

It's not Dana Whites fault that most of the Pride boys choked when they came over to the UFC. I was a big fan of Pride but I've somewhat lost faith in any of them who have come over outside of Rampage.

that's not what i was even talking about....

don't just assume because someone says something good about pride that they're just trying to advocate the superiority of all their fighters.

You've been hanging around the sherdog forums too much. :smirk:

Where exactly did I assume that? I just made a comment to no one in particular pertaining to the topic at hand (which at the time was the acquisition of Pride and Dana White). Maybe it is you that should not be so quick to assume and should probably be taking a break from sherdog?

I wasn't saying you were a bandwagon fan fyi. Although, I would say that you have become much more enlightened since I first saw you posting about MMA at the shroomery. Also there is a big difference between having no wrestling and good wrestling, silva has neither. And even then, he really just uses bjj not wrestling which has been working great for him.
