PMP/Cakes/Casing
    #7535173 - 10/19/07 12:11 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Hey
In the midst of my first grow and I have some questions.

1) Unable, for whatever reason, to keep PMP above 90-92% rH, Should I case cakes rather than growing them independently due to the lower rH in the pod or should I continue with standard PF procedures?

2) PCing rye today. Will a rH of 90-92% be too humid to properly fruit casings or is this level satisfactory or what?

3) It is my understanding that ~95% rH is good for cakes, while ~85% rH is desirable for casings, will a chamber at around the 90-92% that I have, be suitable for both?

4) As far as PMP goes... I had it up and running for a couple of days at ~97% , but now it seems unable to rise above 92%. The only thing that changed is that I cut a viewing hole in the lid, and sealed it w/ (airtight) plastic. I have two airstones and two flexible bubblewand acting things under 4 in. of hydroton, which I rinsed until it ran clear, however, the water at the bottom of the tub is still slightly orange. My Q is, my aeration devices shouldn't be fouled already, should they? Any pointers?

You expertise is welcome.

90-92% is optimal for casings.
it isnt quite optimal for cakes, but you could easily mist the inside of the walls once a day and bam, you're at 98% again and good to go for cakes.
in most peoples experience, at around 95-96% humidity, its about ideal for both.

im sure your aeration device is fine. it takes alot more than some rinsed hydroton to clog it, these things do go in fish tanks afterall. =)
