Casing Pan Cyans?

What is the recommended casing tek for pan cyans? My preference is 60 /40 for cubes.

50/50 is what blue helix and others used, and thus myself, and it was beautiful.
dunno about 60/40, assuming you mean coir.
i tend to not use that in casing layers.
now if you mean 60/40 verm/peat, sounds fine =)

Yea I meant coir and vermiculite. I think I'll try the peat.

You can go with 50/50 coir/verm, but what is more important with pans is that they get ALOT OF FAE!

Unfortunately I was unable to obtain any peat before it was time to case so I went with 50% Verm, 25% Coir, 25% steer Manure. Fortunately, my fruting chamber has lots of FAE. I'll try to post pics tomorrow.

You don't case with nutritious food-sources. Casing layers are supposed to be non-nutritious humidity blankets that have been pH balanced to make as inhospitable for colonization as possible. The strong mycelium colony below it in the substrate will have no problem pushing through this layer while fresh contaminates will find it too harsh (nothing to eat and too alkaline to germinate) to get a foot-hold.

Everything you used would have been superb for a substrate but fails miserably as a casing mixture. Good luck with that, I truly wish you all the best...

Keep in mind that inoculating or whatever in front of a flow hood won't help your bad substrate, your bad inoculant, your bad sterile procedure, etc. etc. etc. It's not a +3 flowhood of magic, it's just a tool.
