Starting someone on a journey
    #7534801 - 10/19/07 10:30 AM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Lately Ive had a few people ask me about 2012 and things of that nature. None of these people are into psychedelics. The majority of things that i study look crazy in the eyes of someone that hasnt expanded their mind. How can i start with something simple that doesnt freak them out? It's hard for me to go backward.

Man is timid and apologetic; he is no longer upright; he dares not say "I think," "I am," but quotes some saint or sage. He is ashamed before the blade of grass or the blowing rose.Man postpones or remembers; he does not live in the present, but with reverted eye laments the past, or, heedless of the riches that surround him, stands on tiptoe to foresee the future. He cannot be happy and strong until he too lives with nature in the present, above time

Why the need to proselytize?:monkeydance: Leave that to the Religious folk. Just live and be an example. Everything else is just small talk. You have no assurance that what you believe is the truth.

remind them about the internet...seems like that's where most people are getting the grist for their journey mills.

Youre right about that. But reality may not be true either.

That's a good answer, it's how i started.

Whatever you do, don't talk about fact based evidence, or the history of past prophecies. This would totally destroy the premise of the whole 2012 assumption.

Good luck.

What do you mean by fact based? Everything is based on fact, unless it's just completely made up.

Nobody needs to be brought into the 2012 trip.
If people are interested in psychedelics, please point them to solid information. Stress SET AND SETTING. Try not to speculate too heavily about things you yourself have not experienced.

--------------------
“Strengthened by contemplation and study,
I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

How do you know something very specific is going to happen in 2012?

Pretend I'm one of these people you're trying to persuade. Tell me what you know to be true.

Well, I know that 2012 follows 2011 and that some catastrophe will befall some group of humans that year and that I will be a lot grayer (read: more distinguished-looking)...

You cant deny the astrology. But other than that nothing is fact.

Starting someone on a journey

Don't tell them anything. Find a good setting. Determine that they have a rational set. Then give them a decent dose of LSD.

This works every time. (one way or another)

I think 2012 will be just like any other year, it will have ups and down just like normal. The people getting worried about this are probably the same group who got their panties in a bunch over Y2K...
