What the hell? I can't find any info on mix ratios, so here's what I'm up to.I already have a grain jar with myc 20%. I'm gonna innoc. this with it: store bought composted cow manure/straw/brf/gypsum. Somebody please give me a ratio! I can't find any definite mixes in the forums.

40% Straw 40% Composted Cow Manure 15% Brown Rice Flour 5% Gypsum
Soak the hay while mixing the Composted Cow Manure, BRF, and Gypsum and getting it to field capacity. Then mix your soaked hay and pasteurize.

I'd take a minute to reflect on offering that advice when you obviously haven't done it. I'd mix 45/45/10 Verm/Manure/Gypsum. The manure is going to be a muddy soup; you'll need the verm to fluff it out some. The straw would be a nutritive alternative; look at the existing teks on straw/manure combos.

Sorry resptodd, I should've made clear: mixing up manure and BRF is pointless. The only reason BRF is used is its low endospore count. Since you're doing a bulk grow, bacteria don't particularly matter; you won't sterilize the material anyhow.
The mixture Chi Ro provides will in no way be able to reach "field capacity". It'll be a goopy, muddy concoction.

I haven't done any of this. I did a Homestead kit 5yrs ago. I want to move on. I pay alot of attention to these forums. I just want to make sure my plan will work. I'm sure of my sterile teks, unsure of which cult. tek I will use. Leaning heavily to a myc/grain to manure then case tek. I want info, info, info, info.

Well read read read the bulk substrate teks.
I would advise just casing pure coir for your first attempt. It's damn near foolproof, and forgiving.

*salutes the Captain*
I meant more along the lines of you being able to pick it up, squeeze it and only have a few drops of water come out. I've always mixed Coir in combination with Composted Cow Manure in my bulk substrates for fluffiness, so as you pointed out, I wasn't speaking from experience.

So, use the grain/myc to inoc. straight coir, then case? I get more confused by the minute. I can do this, I want a tried and true bulk manure+ since that is what I had success with (old Homestead).

Yes you can use straight coir.
You can also use coir/coffee, coir/coffee/poo, coir/coffee/poo/straw, etc. Any mix of the good bulk substrates (and additives like coffee)

Yes. The Homestead kits were integrated. You'll sterilize grain spawn (birdseed, usually) in mason jars with a pressure cooker, then inoculate them with spores. After the mushroom mycelium has completely consumed the grain, you break it up and use it to inoculate 4 times as much substrate, thereby exponentially multiply your output. A casing is added after colonization is complete to provide moisture. It is recommended, but unnecessary.

Again. I would not recommend manure and straw for your first bulk grow. It has an odd consistency, meaning you mistake normalcy for contamination. It is difficult to properly attain moisture; you're talking about sludge and straw. Straw is also one of the more difficult substances to properly pasteurize, and takes hours.

Then where can I go with this? I want a bulk sub. I am planning on having close to a half gallon of grain/myc. I did well with the homestead kit so I'm trying to follow it on a larger scale. I just want a good "manure sub" to inoc. I'm confident on my ability to case, gonna' use 50/50+ (from what I've read).

50/50 what?
And coir works quite well as a "manure sub". Otherwise look for horse manure.

Dude, just try straight coir for your first time. Perhaps you could get a larger yield with different mix but straight coir will absolutely work well.
